the stick has 1gb less ram (it is noticeably a bit slower but nothing major)
It has an output resolution of 1080p (no 4k)
No USB interface

Other than that, its the same thing essentially. I have one and it works as the box does.

perfect and yeah its for my parents home so nothing major

just normal netflix and youtube mostly

im going to try the amazon stick for now before wasting money on something new

For the money, 699 for the mi tv stick it’s a no brainier. I use one every day and it’s never been an issue. It’s never too slow, nor does it overheat.

I’ve also got a mi box and even my original nexus player than is still fine.

Oh, and a google tv - i bought it for the recommendations, but for some reason the entire google tab is disabled. It does handle HDR etc perfectly and better than any other android box, maybe on par with the shield tv.

There are a lot of reports of the Mi-Stick running hot. Also, I have posted here, and elsewhere that I suspect that this is caused by people using cheap border line power supplies. But I have no way to test this supposition.

This is an issue that plagues people playing with RPi computers for the first time. No one seems to check if the power supply is running hot, when they report the device running hot.

I have experienced more than a few people destroying devices by using inadequate, borderline power supplies.

But where does it state that you need to supply your own external power supply for the stick ?

From the Takealot link, there doesn't seem to be ANY power leads in the box, so if you still need to purchase EXTRA hardware then that price isn't that great :unsure:

Lots of people plug them into USB ports on old TV's expecting them to supply sufficient power for the Sticks requirements. More convenient than finding another open plug space.

Reasoning being, it is USB, and USB, is USB, is USB, ad infinitum
 
sorry dumb question, how has everyone connected there mi box to a amp? amp doesnt have a hdmi port
