Describe your audio setup and what other endless issues do you have?

Mi box is connected via hdmi to yamaha yas 207 soundbar that supports PCM (up to 5.1), Dolby Digital 5.1, DTS Surround 5.1. Also connected the SPDIF/Optic to my Sony amp (bit older) but supports dolby digitial 5.1. None get a 5.1 or dts signal. Also if i set the sound settings, Surround sound in android menu to always, Netflix gives me an error when trying to play a video.

The box itself freezes now and again, froze on Netflix and Dstv Now (dont have much other apps yet).
Picture seems to run away and becomes jittery during certain scenes where camera movements (Netflix) like a rendering issue?!

I tried 2 of these boxes from Incredible - and tested them at incredible. Had the HDCP issues with my 5 year old Samsung TV (just a normal full HD TV). Netfix plays perfectly on my TV via my chromecast and PS4, so its definitely the Mibox3.
Even did a test in the store, we realised Netflix just does not work on some TV's while it works perfectly on the higher end TV's.

Kinda illogical, but it is what it is. Maybe Incredible had a bad batch - I don't know.

I tried this initially. Laptop doesn't pick up the box, bit detects other devices. Other method I posted earlier worked.

I wonder if apk on stick/ES File explorer will work.

I just pressed the mic button and said "open chrome". It took me to play store to install it.

That was on the previous android though.

Ive noticed one thing on Netflix specifically now and then.

The sound keeps playing, but the picture freezes. Then after a while the picture fast forwards to catch up to the normal playing sound. Its only happened a handful of times, and only in Netflix.

Any one know of an APK or channel, where I can watch musicals - Fiddler on the Roof, My Fair Lady, Sound of Music etc.

I'm interested in the Mi Box, but surround sound is very important to me, so I've been reading a bit and found out the following...

About Netflix...
Netflix surround sound is in DD+ format. So your sound bar or amp will need to support this.
DD+ can't pass over a SPDIF/Optical interface, only HDMI 1.3 or newer.
As far a I understand, the Mi Box Mi Box can't down mix DD+ to normal DD 5.1 for output on SDPIF/Optical.

I think you should be able to play video files (that have DD 5.1 or DTS) with a player like MX Player, and the surround sound should be output on the HDMI and/or Optical correctly. Edit: This may only be possible with the Oreo update...

Hopefully someone can help, ever since my xiaomi mi box got the android OS update to the latest version (a month or two back I think), I can no longer play any video files from the USB. I have tried various files, formats/codecs (mkv,mp4,x264,x265). I have even tried other USB flash drives. Reformatted them. The problem is that when the movie starts it plays for up until about +- 1 hour. Then it freezes as if there is a glitch in the file and it cannot be read, but this happens to all files and works perfect on my pc and on my non certified google tv box. Apart from that I can start the video from the beginning, but if I try to fast forward or skip to time-X the video just loads and loads and never plays the file. I have tried multiple video players as well. Only thing I have not done is to Restore the box to factory defaults but its just 3months old and took a whole evening to set everything up initially. Any ideas or did the box go faulty?

Unless someone else has another solution, your best bet is to reset the box, unfortunately.

I'm no expert, but it seems like there are serveral issues with the Oreo update. A beta version was posted a few days ago on this thread that seems to be fine, but that means you have to re-flash your box.

Thanks for this, Updated last night. my box is snappy again. will test tonight if my mentioned issues are sorted. so far looking good.
.

So did some tests last night i am relived to say the box is back to normal, did not have to reboot the device before using it, everything just works.

BUT, i cant play DSTV now anymore, i get the "Device not officially registered" message. I guess because i'm running a beta version? Bummer!

Also Netflix DD+ audio still cuts out every so often. These are the only issue i have with my device now.

I installed 2174 and then there was an OTA update which took it to 2176. Is it safe to go to 2179 and use DSTV Now, as when i did before DSTV said it is not a certified device, but maybe i missed to do some extra step. I saw some guys experienced that problem but i did not see a solution.

Thanks, was hoping for an easy solution. I will do it this weekend and see what results I get.
