I have not had sales regret for selling my S5 this week. The power management on the phone is super aggressive in the standard setting, but you get outstanding battery life. I reckon if you disabled all power saving, all of these issues would vanish. The phone is superb - you'll love it.

I'm currently on a G3 and its A real POS. I had a S5 and I would say it's probably the best Android phone I have owned. If you say this is better than the S5, then I'm quite excited. My biggest issue with the S5 was the poor battery, but compared to the G3, the S5 had superb battery life![]()
I don't take lots of photos so the camera won't be a real issue for me.Only the camera was a downgrade coming from the S5. I loved the S5, which had much better battery life than the S4 I had before. But this 4000mah Xiaomi is insane! My phone is used for business. On the S5 I would start the day on 100% and some afternoons would require a top up at my desk charger before even getting to the end of the day.
Today I was on the phone for several hours in the car via bluetooth. I was also away from wifi for most of the day so battery usage from the sim's was higher than normal. When I got home this evening, I had 60% left with well over 4hrs screen on time. Mind blown!
Did you manually install developer version? Is it Lollipop or Marshmallow?![]()

New OTA update on Developer ROM available this morning
Did you manually install developer version? Is it Lollipop or Marshmallow?
Brilliant, thanks!Manually flashed when I got the phone. It's on Marshmallow (6.0.1)
You can download the full ROM here. Make sure you get the Developer ROM for "Redmi Note 3 Special Edition". Then you just copy the ROM to your phone's storage, and using the Updater app you can navigate to the zip you downloaded and flash that. Easy peasy
Why would you want to root it?Anyone rooted their device yet, if so - which rooting option did you use?
There are some super useful apps e.g. Samba Server that need rootWhy would you want to root it?
The Miui Android Software is quite awesome.

Great - were you able to keep all apps and data or did you need to wipe it?I have, however I used the EDl flash method to load the latest developer rom with MiFlash.
I just replaced the recovery with a different one from the downloaded rom.

Where you get those prices? Seem way too lowI'm considering paying a little more and getting the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Pro. The regular Redmi Note 4 is only about R 1850.00 and the Pro which includes 64 Gb and and upgrade to 3 Gb RAM, is R 2450.00 delivered. That sounds like a good deal, taking into consideration the Redmi Note 4 has some advantages over the Redmi Note 3 - faster 10 core processor and better ergonomics. What do you think ?
My ultimate phone - which I will get, when it is finally released, is the LG V20. Like the Samsung Note 7 - top end smart phone, (with no explosive battery) but a removable metal back so the battery can be changed out - that is a massive plus to me, as I would hate to be on a hike in the mountains and the battery runs out and cannot be switched for a fresh battery.
