Can always go the for profit route:
I bought a Redme note 4 (3/32 gig) for $179US + Mi5 (3/64 Gig) for $249US. Flashed Global Rom & sold the Note 4 for R5000, also sold my old Moto G (3rd Gen) for R2000.

So in essence I upgraded from Moto g to Mi5 for free.

Stop encouraging me:crying:

I need to save money dammit

AJ made money :p

I'm not that savvy unfortunately. With my luck I'll drop the damn thing on my way to meet the seller or something :crylaugh:

I remembered that my current employer has to pay out my leave due to me when I leave next month so my budget might be a bit bigger. But I really don't need another phone. It's just this blasted battery life that doesn't work for me

Post your stats- maybe it's a rogue app?

Phone was unplugged at around 07:30 this AM. I gave it a top-up charge at around 12:00 and again at 14:00 for 15 mins at a time. It was on 40% when I got home. Yesterday I unplugged it at 6AM and it was dead by 11:45 :wtf:

I do receive A LOT of messages on Whatsapp hence why my display is on quite often. I suspect this is the problem. We have support groups that have about 300 messages a day flying through them combined. I have two SIM cards installed (One data one voice) and Wifi is turned off. Bluetooth is on to keep my Mi Band 2 connected, but vibrate and sounds are turned off on my phone too. Only the LED notification light is enabled, and my screen brightness is set to around 25%. The stats tell a lie as I usually get around 2h15 SOT before the battery is pap

Also please disregard the screenshot with the 15h32 timestamp. I am unable to get it removed for some reason

EIsh- nothing obvious there, sorry..

My 3 year old Oneplus One had similar stats. Nothing obvious killing it, but it was dead daily if I didn't juice it up during the day.

Maybe a PC Mark Test on the battery would give you an indication of where you lie compared to other phones of the same age and spec? I'll probably try that tonight on a Redmi Pro 2 I have, as I've been meaning to do so for a while...

I think phone needs to be at 100% then left on overnight to see how far it gets, something like that, if you plan on doing that, just ensure you can charge it enough in the AM or at work tomorrow.

If the outcome is of any interest, it might warrant a new thread to compare to other phones

I just find it weird that it doesn't seem to hold charge all that well. The other Android devices I used to have used to hang on 100% battery remaining for a few hours before going down. With the ReNo2 it takes me about three minutes of SOT for it to drop to 99%. Another two minutes to 98%...half an hour's worth of Tapatalk while having coffee leaves me with 88 - 91% before I leave the house. It just doesn't feel like it's right, if that makes sense.

The net result being a very big distrust in MTK-based devices as a colleague had the same phone with appalling battery life as well. He returned his due to some dead other issue and decided to wait for the Note 3 though.

Thanks for the link, I will check it out tonight. Can always charge the phone in the car if need be. I actually did do a test the other night. I unplugged the phone at around 11PM when I went to bed. It had 78% when I woke up at 06:45, and the only activity was the alarm that went off. Very odd

If you running MIUI you should have all the tools under Batter option in settings to try and find the problem ie:

Charge your phone to 100%. Install this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809 once you are nearing 20 to 15% check under partial wake locks to see what's keeping your phone from deep sleep.

The Mi4 is going ridiculously cheap at Incredible this weekend. I have two MTK phones. One Xperia E4 and the Redmi Note 2. The Xperia gets 2 days battery life on medium usage or 5 days on standby. The Note 2 gets about 24hrs battery life on medium to usage. Battery life was shorter, so I decided to plug in the phone for charging overnight a few times in a row and it greatly improved.

Disable autostart on all apps except Whatsapp and anything else you really need. Miui 7 might help aswell since you can disable build in apps. Bloody Xiaomi took it away in Miui 8. I'm happy with my 4h30min + SOT.

Sigh I have tried that as well. I think maybe I just got a duff unit. I have tried with builds 7.1.3.0, 7.2.2.0, 7.2.3.0, 7.5.1.0, 8.0.1.0, 8.0.3.0 and 8.1.2.0 from their site and none of them seem to work.

I can get by with my car charger but it's far from ideal. I have a sneaky suspicion I should just remove WhatsApp and magically it will work just fine :p

Wait, doesn't seem to be dual sim?
There's a few compromises you'll have to make to take this phone. No FP sensor, 16gigs, no expanidible storage and 308mAh battery. Amongst other things. Depends what will suit your needs.
