I don't like seeing this thread so low down so I'm just going to post this here to bump it up:

To the Lineage OS users:

How do you update? Manual download and flash or update from baked in updater?

Not a Lineage OS user, but a Nitrogen OS user.

I do plain old OTA updates, works just fine. Don't know if that helps you...

Used Resurrection on my G3, battery drain was a little higher than the other roms I used.
How's the latest build ito Camera/video, battery?

RR atm, battery seems ok. Video is kinda broken. Also experiencing random reboots once in a while.

Camera isn't the best, flash is a little broken. Video seems to work fine.

Battery life gets me about a day and a half.

No random reboots that I've noticed.

I can't speak for the Mi4 but I have the Redmi Note 2 and I am happy, but I do wish the battery life were better. It's a common complaint with this particular model, apparently solved by loading a custom ROM

Don't feel like the hassle of importing a phone and having issues (I had to return the Redmi2 Pro because the bottom buttons stopped working, and googling it, it seems common on Xiaomi phones)

From what I gather it was only on the 1st line of phones, dont see recent ones with that issue, even then you could remedy with a simple qemu.hw.mainkeys=0 in the Build.prop if you did not buy from someone like say Gearbest that have a 1 year guarantee.

Bar that I would rather take my chance and get a Note 4 (3/32Gig) for R2300 than buy an outdated Note 3 for R1000 more, but that's just me.

That fix creates an on-screen keyboard...

The R2300 is excluding import duties, etc - so it'll probably be the same as the Note3

RE: Gearbest, have you tried dealing with their support? Completely useless - I'd hate to have to try and do a warranty claim through them. After my recent experience I won't touch them again.

EDIT - then again - I suppose they're all going to be the same. (Chinese sellers)

Outdated... That's a bit harsh

You're ideally looking for the Snapdragon variant. Or if you are so inclined, the Note 4X

I think the Note 4 X has the snapdragon CPU. I have the regular Redmi Note 4 - tiny deal call it the PRO because it has 64 GB Rom and 3GB RAM.

Although mine does not use the Snapdragon CPU, but uses the Deca-core Max 2.11 CPU.....it is no slouch, very very snappy for general use (I am not a gamer). Easily just as fast as my other smart phones such as the Samsung Note 4, and the battery life is very acceptable - also as good as, or better than my other smart phones. I am usually left with 70 % after an 8 hour day.
