Which method did you use to unlock bootloader. Worthwhile requesting from Mi? Turnaround time?Thank you kindly

I requested the code,it seemed to get stuck at 50%.Apparently that's been fixed recently.
I used the unofficial method of replacing the recovery image with TWRP
Extract MiUi 8 Global Developer ROM and replace recovery.img (in images folder) with ZCX TWRP's recovery.img
Flash using Mi Flash (in EDL mode) and check clean_all
After finished flashing process unplug and press [volume up]+[power] until Mi logo shows up then release buttons and it boots to TWRP (change TWRP language from chinese to english: click here)
Reboot to system and accept that TWRP disables/overwrites standard recovery
Boot to MIUI and complete initial setup (important step)
-----------------------------------------------
Shutdown device and boot to TWRP again
Perform factory reset and wipe system
Flash Psy_man's latest firmware, LineageOS 14.1 and GApps (ARM64, Android 7.1)
Wipe Cache, Dalvik
Reboot to system and you're DONE!!

Wonder what would work and what would not work if I don't flash GApps? I mean, Google Play Services is used for tons of applications...

It depends on the apps you use.
You could side load most of the apps according to the internet.

Try running it without for a day or so and see. Or go with a small gapps package like Pico? I think. That's what I used to do in my Samsung Note 3 days

Didnt enable it yet,was just playing with vibration settings
I'll check tonight and link. But if it's relocked you wouldn't have been able to flash the kernel.
Been looking for the post. Can't locate it. I've been reading too many threads in prep for when mine comes I can't remember where I saw it.

Ok so today I received one of the covers and screen protectors I purchased from eBay. I can't believe how fast it got here considering it was regular mail. Marked as a gift so no customs. Sweet.
Anyway, I feel like the screen protector is for Kate but the cover is not. If I'm right I would be willing to do a give away of the back bumper case to one of the guys here who has the Kenzo model. It's a nice cover. Got the metal side thats cold to the touch. Not sure how much protection the back will give tho as its acryllic.

Got my hard plastic cover off geekbuying. Fits Kate just fine - I'm just not too impressed by the hard plastic, but you get what you pay for. I have a Kenzo sized screen protector which works well on Kate too.
For those who have had their phones repaired. What was the process, waiting period and final cost?
I've browsed the thread and it is between incredible and MIA.
Has anyone been able to find replacement screens online, it is hard enough to find covers, finding a replacement screen is probably impossible.

Might be better off buying a new phone than repairing the screen...
That's the plan. I'm going to use it as is for a while.
My plan was to buy the MI Note 2 around April/May and give this phone to my younger brother.
So I'm just interested in how the others were fixed, as I'd still like to give it to him once I've upgraded.
