Xiaomi Redmi Note 4/4X

Anyone had to get their lcd replaced? Who did you use and what did it cost?

Weighing up options whether to just get a new device.

Can't connect to Vodacom LTE.

Hi guys, glad I found this forum.
I bought a redmi note 4 in October last year from Makro, from reading this forum I think I may have a redmi note 4x since my inferred and speaker are bundled on the right and not separated with the infrared in the middle. I have a octa-core processor which means I'm running the snapdragon processor, on the box it got a sticker saying global version.

That said I cannot connect to Vodacom LTE network, I'm based in jhb, but even when traveling to Durban over December I was not able to pick up LTE.

I have been to the Vodacom shop and they say LTE service is activated on my sim card. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?
To give an update on this problem:
I accepted that my Note 4 is just not capable of picking up an LTE signal after many failed attempts by Vodacom and by myself trying different settings and sim cards.

Then suddenly during November last year i saw a 4G signal in the top right hand corner and and the connection speed also increased. I have no idea what changed but I'm glad it fixed itself. I'm guessing it could have been fixed during a system update.

@kolaval @AlphaJohn I have never rooted or flashed my Note 4. Is there anything I need to do before I follow the instructions on that page? (I remember vaguely something about contacting MI to unlock something.....)

Does Syberia support Call Recording?

Recording...I think so, but I use google's phone app.

For the rooting part, yes. lot's of info in xda for the device.

Weirdly, nothing on any of their communication - or invoice.

Try email : [email protected] or [email protected] - it seems to be the email they were using with me.
Thanks, unfortunately I got this response from them: "Please note that for the Redmi 4x we cannot assist you with, we do not provide support phones that are not purchased in South Africa."

Ah - thought that might be the case when I sent mine in, they asked for the IMEI before accepting it - mine was bought locally.

Hi All,

So myself and my SO have the note 4. Hers has this really annoying issue where the headphone symbol displays the whole time and as such you cannot answer phone calls etc without using the phone on loud speaker. many people say it is a software bug whilst others claim it is something stuck int he jack. I have tried all sorts of things, anyone with experience of this?

Mine on the other hand, i have started noticing the battery drain becoming excessive. before i would charge maybe twice a week, it is almost getting to be a daily thing? think the battery is giving in, i.e swollen etc?

Thx

Might be worth loading a custom rom to see if it resolves your problems:

and

Should hopefully help you on your way :)
It can be rather daunting for the non-techminded individual, but especially if your battery seems to drain abnormally fast it might be worth attempting. If successful it could blow some new life into your device plus get the cool Google Camera software going and a different flavour of software.

i am a software dev so i should manage it :p to be honest though things like this have never interested me, i.e rooting, custom roms etc.

Do you think this is in regards to both issues? i.e some have indicated that the headphones thing is a software bug (though i find it hard to beleive since we are running the same versions etc and have upgraded etc since) or are you more referring to the battery issue?

I had the headphone issue, seems to have been triggered by receiving a call with the headphones in, removing them, and then answering the phone.

Try insert and remove the head phones multiple times ... See if it sorts it out.
