Any. I've flashed stock and dev, no difference. Only dev was bigger like 200MB more. And I've used my micro SD.

1st ting to try is: download global stock from http://en.miui.com/download.html and use update app. If that fails you might have to use the proper rom the Vendor rom was based on, ie: if they used China dev you will have to try China Dev 1st

If all of that fails you will have to google on how to flash from image files.

Personally I had to use this guide to get my Mi 5 from Gearbest onto Global stable cause nothing else worked.

Oh and Fastboot roms are over here

I'm pretty much invested in the Apple ecosystem, iPhone SE, Apple Watch, Macbook Pro.

I have been thinking of getting a phone with a bigger screen as the SE really feels small at the moment.

I was thinking of getting a 6s / 7 Plus but it's quite a leap in price.

I also thought of maybe getting a Redmi Note 4 and a MiBand2 to replace the phone and watch.

The irony is I had a Note 3 and MiBand2 last year to use as secondary devices but sold it when I got the SE.

Will it be a big downgrade if I go from the SE + Watch combo to the Xiaomi Combo?
 
My mom's 4x notification ringtones don't work for any apps. Does anyone know if this is a known issue?

Sounds like it could maybe be a permissions issue. Does the speaker play normally otherwise? I'd hazard a guess and factory reset the phone if possible

Thanks wabbit. After searching online and doing all kinds of things in the developer options menu, the culprit seems to be 'do not disturb'.

It was switched on to work between 11pm and 7am, however it seems to have blocked everything.

Switching do not disturb off seems to have fixed this.
 
Glad you found the fix. I've also had that give hassles on my mom's old Moto G but I didn't even know these phones had DND mode. I have only ever seen it on stock Lollipop before so the thought of checking that never crossed my mind

Today I will be leaving this group....

Selling the Note 4X, and will be using the Mi 5 till the end of the month till I can "upgrade" to Mi 5X.

I would miss the rear F/Print location too much. I will NEVER be able to go without a rear fingerprint reader again

Are you going for the 4GB/64GB model?
 
MIUI 9 update done.

Feels a bit snappier, not many changes that I've noticed yet.

Just a small note for people buying covers.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 (MTK) smartcover does not work on a Note 4X (SD). The cover fits sure, but the sensor on the 2 phones are on different locations so it does not pick up the magnet in the cover when you close (Does not switch phone on/off)

So if you buy a smartcover make sure its for your model.

I just received my Note 4 from Takealot. What will be the fastest way to get a cover and screen protector? I don't see them on Takealot, and ordering it from somewhere like Aliexpress is going to take months. Any thoughts?
 
You could try Zasttra. They have stock which takes a few days to get here, but much faster than from overseas
