Xiaomi Redmi Note 4/4X

I just received my Note 4 from Takealot. What will be the fastest way to get a cover and screen protector? I don't see them on Takealot, and ordering it from somewhere like Aliexpress is going to take months. Any thoughts?

You can DHL them via Gearbest can take 5 days ... but that is gonna cost you. :D

I did look around in SA for a friend and must say its a bit dry here even with so many people sporting the phones.

Makro has them in stock. I took the wrong cover accidentally when I bought a Redmi 4.

So Vodacom150 is not R149 per month?

Picture time:

Vodacom150 is a voucher code that can be used on checkout at Takealot to get R150 off your first order when using a new account that has not ordered from Takealot before...

Just came from Makro Cape Gate. They don't currently have any stock. They only have a screen protector for the Note 4X. Also went to all the little kiosk shops in Cape Gate, nothing. Looks like online is the only option.

I bought my Redmi 4 at Makro Milnerton with cover and it was only when I got home did I see it was a Note4 cover. That was why I was certian Makro sells them for the Note4.

Cool, will see if I get a chance to pop over to Milnerton's one over the weekend. Thanks

My Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 arrived 2 days ago via Takealot. I've to say I'm seriously impressed with this device. I used a Samsung Note 4 the last two and a half years and, aside from the average camera, this Xiaomi phone kicks the living out of my old Sammy, and, at about a fifth of the price.

A couple of colleagues have also seriously expressed their interest in the brand after being shown what Xiaomi offers at the price range of this phone.

It basically offers everything that is packed into other manufacturer's flagship devices, runs extremely well, and, the battery life is absolutely amazing...two days of pretty regular use and on 40%...what's not to love here?

I can strongly recommend!!

Hi guys, just ordered the Xiaomi Note 4x from Gearbest. As this is my first time ordering something from overseas I got some questions for those of you who bought electronics off of Gearbest.com

1) I ordered using DHL Express so more or less how long would it take to get to me in Cape Town?
2) Was the insurance I added on the order really necessary (seeing that I used PayPal to pay for it)?
3) How much would customs duty or other tax cost when the item arrives in South Africa?

Your response is much appreciated and I thank you in advance! :)

Also just ordered this week via DHL. Will let u know what customs charges are.

The tracking number was not working on the DHL site though? Anyone know how to track it?

My last order a few weeks ago using DHL express took 2 days to get delivered to me - once they picked it up from Gearbest. Watch your account on Gearbest to see when your order says "shipped by DHL" or similar. Sometimes it takes Gearbest a few days for them to actually get the item ready for dispatch. I don't think they physically carry every item in stock, which is why it takes a couple of days before it shows that it is shipped.

I always take out insurance when buying phones or laptops from Gearbest, it's cheap enough, only a few $
Duties will cost you about R 350. Just contact DHL in SA once it has shipped and ask them to email you the bill and their online portal for payment. It's slick, fast and secure. Prepayment of the duties means it won't get held up. Like I said, my last order took 2 days from pickup at Gearbest to the guy ringing my gate bell in rural KZN. I have had other items take up to 5 days...it depends if there is a weekend during shipping.

Here is my last order for a Xiaomi Mi Max 2 - picked up on Tuesday afternoon from Gearbest, and they were trying to deliver at my home on Thursday morning (I wasn't home)
