Hi

I use Google Docs to manage the crew scheduling at my job and I email a daily crew schedule to all the employees in .xlsx format (I export the Google Doc, save it on my PC and then email it as an attachment).

I did this last year, no problem.

This year all the iphone/ipad users are having one of 2 problems:
1. Big white block covers the majority of the spreadsheet when they open it.
2. The file opens, you can see the spreadsheet for a split second and then it disappears.

I can open the emailed .xlsx file perfectly on my Android S2 device. And this problem does not happen when the attachement is opened on any laptop (mac/pc).

Nothing has changed between last year and this year on my side (the way I export and save and email).

Does anyone have ANY idea how to fix it? I can't send it as a .doc or .pdf because of the format of the schedule and this is causing problems for some of the guys as they need to be able to access the file offline (else they would just look at it online on gDocs).

Any suggestions welcomed!

I might be wrong here but try saving as Excel 97-2003 which will save it as .xls instead of .xlsx

Publish it as a web link instead.

That way you don't need to send it to everyone and clog up their mail every day.

And whenever you make changes they are available to everyone immediately.

It's a little pointless using Cloud services as "applications" and not for their true beauty.

FWIW - I've just emailed myself an xlsx file and it opened just fine on my ipad and iphone
