XP SP3 Local Download

Telkom has partnered with Akamai - the server went live in December. IS also has some kind of agreement with Akamai so you can get content from either one.

Only in December '07? More like late July early August '07 afaik...

SP3 is not out yet ... It got delayed, again. Because of some 'RMS' ussue or something.

You can still download it from that Windows Update Link. The problem was only with that Microsoft Retail Manager Software. If you don't use that you can go ahead and do the upgrade.

@ Noah

I just looked at the screenshot of your desktop, and I noticed down by the clock that you seem to have a pair ok keys showing. Unless it's some other program using that icon, that's a sign of Microsoft Activation wanting to activate.

The text at the bottom shows up in all Windows test versions, time limited study versions, and for copies that are not activated if I'm not mistaken. Have a look and see if Windows is properly activated.

Could be that your key was picked up as illegal and now XP will moan.

Good luck :)

Windowz update just offered to automatically download XP SP3 ... @ 936929KB
EEEEEEK!

Is there a local download source available that is not Pre-Release?

Yes...

That will come down as local or international.

And it is the Final Release... see the screenshot...

(If it was a pre-release it would have a build number next to it).

Erm .. I have 3 machines to update here, I need to download it once from a local site.
But, thanks for confirming that those links are the Final release.
What happened to MS South Africa's FTP site?

I'm not understanding you. Are you saying you only have local only access?

If you have local only access you will still be able to download it once and then distribute the file to all the PCs you have to update and then update each one manually.

That is what I did with the ten PCs in our offices. I only downloaded it once.

The link I gave you is the redistributable executable file... 320 Mb.

That link is treated as a local site. Try it. it will still download with local only access.

Just a quick question:
Do you guys think it will be wise to do a clean install of XP Pro SP2 ann then upgrade it to SP3, because there is alot of updates on SP2 that takes up Space?

Best to slipstream SP3 and create a SP3 disc it's the cleanest method, one clean installation and you're up to date.

Just want to make sure before i use it, it is the Final/Working version?
getting a bit confused with everyone giving links to pre-releases:)

lol, yes, it is the absolute final gold working 100% legit version!

Like I said, if it was a pre-release or RC version, it would have a build number next to it. There is only one Final Service Pack 3 and that is it. :)

Downloaded Windows XP Service Pack 3 yesterday night, installing it right now. Expect the comparative benchmarks in the FAQ soon ;)

Hey sorry this might be a very stupid question because it has been awnsered somewhere but I can't find it. Ok so the XP SP 3 on microsofts site , are you sure this is the final full release and not the beta version at all?
