Year End Functions

We are having one on the 15th. RSVP'd because the wife wants to go.

When I started there years ago it was good to go. The last few years, as there are almost 3 times as many people, it just became mundane and too crowded.

We have not had one for 4 years, when it comes to end of the year the directors disappear for a month or two. Yes I work for a **** place but that is changing soon

Last year was some venue in Rivonia; ultra loud music, but the food was decent. Unfortunately, because of the music, I couldn't actually talk to anyone, so I left early. The year before was also loud, but there was at least a place where I could chat to colleagues. This year, I'm not going to go unless it's a venue like Casalinga where you can wander off at sit outside.

going to be interesting seeing what year end function we going to have with many of us working in different provinces in SA.
sure the JHB based dudes will have something, but us out in the Bundu's (W.P)
guess I'll visit the beach, the JHB guys cant visit,

Saw them send me the same thing today, reminding me 3 times employees only.
:(

why would I want to hang out with the same office clowns just all standing up?!

bring family, friends, kiddies, wives, husbands, gf bf dogs what what... make it a big fun day out, why not... effing HR or whoever runs these "days" are serious wankers

Oh they are... that's no maybe

The company I work at would spend money on year end functions but has no budget for bonuses for staff. Yet the exco always gets once audit has been completed.

Why am I still working there you may ask? Its 6kms from home, I can run to work and there's hardly traffic except school drop offs.

It will probably be compulsory again. If it's not compulsory then no way am I going. The food was terrible at last years one (and very delayed). The (non alcoholic) drinks were unlimited but they just took so long to be delivered that it was just a waste of time, I went home without getting the last drink that I'd ordered, after waiting > 1h.

end of year function is a braai at the bosses house, last year was epic fun. We all got smashed and ended up swimming in pool fully clothed. I dont drink in my "older" age, but I drank a years supply of booze that day.

it helps if you get on with your colleagues, actually want to go!

Free food, free beer. Ours starts at 13:00 and I’ll be there until 2:00 the next morning. I plan to get my money’s worth.

Not expecting a year-end from my company. They seem to have decided it’s not something we do. It’s a shame because I love chatting to staff and eating pizza.

Man there’s nothing I hate more than overly loud for no good reason and then screaming at everyone the whole time.

Yes because a party costs R1000 a head max.

A bonus…a **** ton more than that and scales for each employee.

It's normally between 5-10k per employee as it's plus spouse/partner and sleepover in hotel/guesthouse. Most people want the money instead but exco wants the party.
