So was hoping to avoid this by dealing nicely with them considering it was the "Black Friday" sales etc and they would be swamped but reaching the end of my patience.

So in short, ordered a nice basic gaming upgrade for an old rig of mine as below:

Also some ram but not that important now ( although I did order black but came in red )

However when the order came through, the mother board was changed without notification as below:

mainboard order.PNG

What also is quite strange is that the motherboard received IS NOT EVEN LISTED ON THEIR WEBSITE!

Now the MSI 970A-G43 AM3+ AMD Motherboard and the MSI 970A-G43 PLUS AM3+ AMD Motherboard are very similar, however the PLUS is newer, better construction with higher grade components and has faster USB, yet the first response when I complained was that they were the same. So now I'm taking my rant public because to me this is underhanded dealing and all I want is either the correct mainboard or the difference in cost.

As a side rant, it's taken nearly two weeks to get the keys as promised on the site for the games upon purchasing the combo, no less than six emails nagging about sending the keys.

Is half this post missing or is it just me?

That is enough for me not to do business with them. They cannot claim copyright on images published by the manufacturers.

But anyway... I think we do need a decent retailer in SA... business op anyone?

Possibly just a typo on the product name? Just contact them and confirm.

I have, initially the story I received was that they had no stock and I should have been contacted about the substitution but that it was O.K as it was the "same" board. Now they say there is no issue as it is what I ordered.

Wootware and rebeltech. There is another guy trying to open one in Durban, Digiscene, not sure if I'd use him though, tbh.

Plenty of member on the ZAGA facebook group is also having major issues with evetech.

Complete rigs failing etc.

Thanks for the informative post.I haven't purchased from them, however seeing stuff like this makes me put them on the ignore/avoid list no matter how good their "specials" are.I do hope you get sorted though

Not entirely true, they are, pending on the arrangement (or contractual agreement), given an illustrative picture which represents a given product or service. This illustrative picture may be edited, watermarked or whatever the case may be by customising the picture to your sales representation as long as it still represents the product. EveTech does some great editing to the ‘stock’ pictures and may claim the copyright to their additional work.

To take note, illustrative pics does not cover every SKU in the same line, at times it is what it is, illustrative.

They need to honour you with the product as advertised, you have a standing CPA case. The substitute is lesser value, closer to EOL and old stock. The only valid substitute is a board equal to the MSI 970A-G43 PLUS AM3+, otherwise they need to supply you with a current MSI 970A model in equivalent spec. It is unethical to downgrade an order.

Agreed, but I'm having to fight them on it, hopefully this as social pressure will help before I escalate to a CPA and ASA case.

That's a proper skate move having the audacity to say the 2012 version is the same as the 2015 version which probably has USB 3 and the older not, just that would kill the deal.

I wouldn't even consider buying a board without USB 3, it's so handy being able to move large files quickly, backups in a fraction of the time etc.
