"**** ***, you bloody ******"

Chiskop - the mere fact that this thread is so long indicates how serious we take name calling in this country.
Murder and rape threads are a dime a dozen, but this kind... they seem to evoke more debate than anything else... it's a sign of where our society is - worldwide, not just SA.

Jeez kasyx, this same example has been covered in this thread already. The point is, the rapists' outburst is certainly racist / hate speech, but kinda pales in comparison to their action of raping the woman.

Should we rather be talking about what they said then about the crime that they committed?

Begging your pardon for not adequately scanning every little detail in this thread before posting my reply, I really hope I didn't darken your day too badly? And you are damn right I think we should be discussing what they said, because, when combined with the crime itself, it makes it all that much more horrific. Think about it carefully. Women are raped every day in South Africa which is pretty damn horrifying as it is. However, when those women are raped simply because they are white, for no other reason than for the perpetrators to commit a hate crime, it makes it all that much more terrifying. These men are so hateful towards whites that they actually went out and RAPED a woman because of it.

I don't know about you, but I think that is well worth discussing. Either way, however, that is not what this thread is about. And sure, let us discuss the rape/crime itself in the thread dedicated to the story, but I don't see why I can't mention the racist connotations in a thread dealing with racism? How could you possibly assume that by me mentioning what was said during the rape I was negating the rest of the crime altogether? I actually find that somewhat insulting.

And what's wrong with my view Mr double standards?

Never said there was anything wrong with it. However, they're just as much a part of the long boring name calling thread you refer to.

Debate, don't argue :)

oh, and my nick is Voicy, not double standards.

I suppose the multitude of times I come across Blacks defaming Whites is OK then?

I'm not surprised, and I defy anyone here to tell me they are 100% non-rascist.

As a White in ZA - yes, >W<hite seeing as how I'm classed - I am continually put down and acted against with bias, until I rech a point where it becomes a natural reaction.

Please point me to where it was said that "Blacks defaming Whites is OK".

Fact: this woman carried out a racist action.
Fact: white people are often also victims in racist motivated crimes.
Fact: defending a racist by pointing fingers at other racists only makes matters worse.

You asked why it wasn't being talked about:

a) It was.
b) It is less newsworthy than the rape during which it occurred. There is no conspiracy to hide or ignore the racism. Just, as big a problem as racism is, it was not the biggest issue that that woman had to deal with that day.

Actually, I think BobbyMac has said what is important in the post above this.

I meant in general, Bobby.

It ticks me off big time that it's alright if a Black defames a White, but it becomes a massive furore if a White does anything other than bow down and kiss the feet of the Blacks. Feel free to Flame.

Who said it's alright? Link to the post please!

Chiskop is right! BobbyMac has said it all!

You need to rename it then, and my voice is part of the DEBATE whether you see it that way or not.

Actually, I think BobbyMac has said what is important in the post above this.

a) When did I ask why it wasn't being talked about? I asked why it wasn't turned into a media fiasco, but I didn't ask why the forumites weren't talking about it because they were.

b) Then surely the "alledged" racism committed by Ishlove should be less news worthy than the armed hijacking in which it occured? I'm not saying there is a conspiracy behind it, I am saying it just isn't seen as racist when a white person is the victim. The media aren't making a big deal out of it because it is not a black person as the victim.

I am not trying to lessen the impact of this woman's actions by "pointing fingers" at other racists. The fact is this woman's actions spurred a debate about racism in this particular thread, and that is what I am responding to.

Show me a news article anywhere with the same force when a White is a victim of racist slander.

media != general beliefs of people.
if u had to sell something, would u sell that which appeals to 5 million people or that which appeals to 40 million people?..

The problem with that is that it causes all sorts of reputation problems.

The White man is then always seen to be the perp' because the media wants to sell more news rather than report the truth.

No wonder we still have major racism issues here.

What a pathetic idea.

I can't help feeling this was totally blown out of proportion. This guy (IT'S ALWAYS A RASTA) wanted his pound of flesh and he got it. They had an argument and people always swear and use words that will hurt the most, "Whitey"; "Rooinek"; "k*ffir"; "hotnot"; ... who hasn't heard it all? It's not as if they are in their employers premises or writing this in the newspaper - it's in the street ffs, they should both have just walked away and laughed it off!!!

Your post is too long, I've said what I wanted to say and I stick to it. Don't know in what RSA you live in though, find the best of us and worst but make an honest assessment.

Unbelievable!!
Oh, and get a new attorney! He has given an opinion based on a news report! What foolishness. Sexual harrassment! Now thats just stupid.
You are too narrow minded to come up with such a good counter argument and defence, of course its an opinion based on available facts. Sexual harassment indeed, how many times have my girlfriend complained about the same thing - men bumping in to her and touching her inappropriately. If you guys want to call the accused woman a racist, I will call the man a rapist and sexual criminal.

what kind of ridiculous BALDERDASH is this????????:confused::confused:
No idea why I quoted you. Next time make a sensible point and argument and I'll answer it when multi-posting.

---

Concerning the 17 year old girl who was raped recently. 17 is under-age if I remember correctly, he had HIV, therefore its not only rape but attempted-murder, he also verbally assaulted her and called her a white bitch.
Now how will this girl respond to a black man bumping her over; in a nice manner or will she shout k*? Not all victims display the same strength and mental clarity like this girl, but maybe the woman in the shopping mall had a similar experience. I'm speculating, but so is everyone else as we don't have the actual facts. Crimes against woman are such a serious problem, I won't be surprised if I'm correct.
As we are pointing out our differences and bashing white folk because white skin is so offensive they must be labelled as racists, I will ask this question, do white men terrorise woman to the same degree in our new South-Africa as black men? What kind of response does the black community expect from white woman afraid for their lives?

Calling someone k* is not that serious. It is only a word, but if we start charging people with offending others we are really getting a bit uppity. I did not charge the government employee who called me a "white *******" without reason yesterday. I should have, given it is just as serious, might have been able to make a quick buck from his indiscretion.

This is my last post, this thread will be closed and I don't want to hit the end tail of it where people are banned because of emotional opinions.

The point I made was sensible; or maybe you misunderstand the word 'balderdash'. Let me give you something a little clearer: Saying that white people do not raise their voices is the biggest load of tommy rot! It is the most appalling rubbish and is also racist nonsense the likes of which I have not heard in a long while.

Unacceptable vocal levels are not only the province of the black man!!

BobbyMac 1, I Suck 0

I rarely do agree with the views expressed by BM in most issues, however, I must say he offered a very balanced view.

Isuacner you are so pathetic, you have dismally failed to defend your viewpoint (mainly because it is indefenseable) and resoted to falsehoods and fabrications, you decided to paint everything that is common decency or courtesy as "white culture" ,that is so puerile and stupid. Please leave these shores and be fast about it. You are no loss to the country.

Fact is that woman was racist.Finis.And she deserves a more fitting punishment.

Racism is racism. Regardless of the colour of the perpetrator. Do not try to qualify it. If you do, we might start thinking you are doing that because you are in actual point defending your own racist viewpoints:D. Have a good day.

I've once or twice met a guy (white) whose nicname is Kaff*r. He has had that name for basically the last 30 years.
