You may be losing out on mobile data

Vodacom does the exact same on voice on my weekender contract. Current month free minutes gets used first then something like 10 percent of leftover free minutes are forfeited instead of previous months free minutes being used up first. This did not always work like this so it isnt legacy system but rather something introduced by Vodacom to reduce free minutes faster.

I'm sure this has been brought up on the forums here a long time ago. I remember people going off at Vodacom.

Good on Shaun for taking it to the next level.

Yip. Why can't they be different than the industry? Because shareholders are more important than the customer.

Profit is the entire point. Although they say they love you and all that jazz, as a company their primary job is to make the most money legally possible. That is the difference between government and the private sector.

While its great to expose these types of things so that customers can make educated choices when selecting a product or service, I'm becoming increasingly annoyed by people who for some odd reason, get the public sector mixed up with the private sector and then use it as a (flawed) basis to moan.

Nice.

Though I must say pretty much everything surrounding mobile data feels like a ripoff. So I guess this is just ripoff++.

at cellc the data bundles only last 30days, however, at 15c in and out of bundle, it makes sense to not be on mtn or vodacom to start off with.

I am surprised because my understanding was that on MTN the oldest bundle is used before the newest. I also at times when travelling abroad had three bundles accumulated on my iPhone.

"Legacy" system? Is "legacy" the polite term for "k@k"? Is it the same system that can't protect you from the OOB shark? Isn't it amazing that a multi-billion company can't implement better systems?

Until mtn and vodacom cut data prices to the levels of cell c they will never get my business

They do with voice minutes, but not sure about data. Vodacom apply last in first out to both.

No-one is mixing up the two. Nothing flawed about expecting companies not to cheat their customers and taking steps to break their backs if they do.

I brought it up over 4 years ago when I signed up for a Vodacom data contract. This was actually the reason I registered on mybb. My first post was about the faulty carry over data.

This has been discussed at lenght in the relevant forums where I've explained it numerous times.

If you guys (and the author) spend a few minutes thinking about the issue, it'll become clear that you HAVE to first allocate the new monthly bundle before allowing any unuse data from the previous month to be used.

The only thing that'll resolve this, it seems, is to follow the networks that do not offer this facility. That way no-one will be confused about how it works and why.

Maybe your developers should go on a proper dev course.

Who are you trying to fool?
