Dear customer, thank you for your online application. Unfortunately your application has been declined during our initial pre-vetting stage.

Regards Telkom Online Sales

What does this mean? They don't provide much detail...

Might it be because I never bought on credit before?
I have this thing against debt..

Yes... Open an account, buys few things. Having no credit record is the same as having a bad credit record as strange as that sounds. For certain things, you will need to show you are capable of repaying.

It's not like I want to sign a 24 month contract with them for a router...
Isn't it suppose to be just month to month?

Use a reseller, telkoms online says are pathetic

Don't telkom offer prepaid?

Yes you can have adsl month to month, but with the analog line you can rack up a bill and they need to see the proof that you are going pay it.

Most people don't even have a phone plugged in to use the analog line, but they still want to see a credit history.

You cant get adsl on a prepaid line, you need to have a "open line" which requires a credit history.
Seems odd I wonder what services/products the OP applied for.

Previously Telkom covered themselves against defaulters for basic services installation by asking for an up front deposit. Problems like this normally arise with previous bad debt clients.

Telkom Pre-vetting

I was pre-vetted for a new telkom contact. Pre-vetting was successfull ... Does this mean my application will definitley be approved like 100% ??

A friend of mine was able to get a Telkom Line and ADSL without any proof of income or credit record a few years ago. He applied at a store, and was just made to pay 3 months upfront.

A lot has changed since then I guess.
