YOUR car appreciation thread :)

You should reverse this :

Is there anyone that has bought a car (ie used their own money) and they now regret it? Seems people always defend their own cars no matter what ...

True to that! I have a BMW 335i Coupe. Its the best car I have owned since the Golf 4 GTi. Previously owned E90 325i, Golf 4 GTi and Golf 3 GS.

Pros:

- Its a rocket sheep with so much more tuning potential
- Built quality has exceeded my expectations
- It turns heads for a car that came out in 2007

Cons:

- Tires do not last. 20 000 - 25 0000kms on a set
- Petrol guzzler. Combined cycle = 13 l/100km

1993 Mercedes Benz 190E 2.3 Sportline........I love it:D! 210 000km on the clock, bulletproof...:)..I need a new radiator though, R4900....:D

I love my Toyota RunX 180RX. It's a Toyota - that says it all.
I got rid of my piece of shyt Opel Astra last year September. The "quality" was better than my current RunX, but I just had enough of it (which cost me a lot of moola) that I decided to go for Toyota.

It was on 66 000KM when I bought it, now on 125 000KM and still going stong. Never had a problem, except the driver's electric window is broken and Toyota want over R3K for it. I will go for an after-market one.

I see myself driving this car until I retire.

R3 for an electri window is a bargain :)

I'm still loving my Hyundai i20 1.6, had it for 5 months now from new and it's only getting better.

1997 Honda Prelude 2.2 VtiR - my precious :D

i love that shape ! my fav honda shape though is the 1992 model (i think could be earlier) prelude the one with the smooth lights though not the flip up ones.

As much as I hate VWs, I loved my '89 2.1i Microbus that I had for a couple of months before I got a Bantam for my 19th birthday. The Microbus was fun and made my heart jump out of my throat on many occasions when I made the rear tires discard all traction due to the power and weight of that awesome sounding boxer engine. This was the last true VW, it had a flat engine and it was as reliable as any other water cooled VW (not great, but acceptable). The 4 speed gearbox did not allow for anything more than 150km/h at the time, but I can vividly remember when I was still in primary school and we first got the VW I saw it my doing 180km/h on the N2 just past Knysna early on a Sunday morning. Sitting in the front passenger seat of car with that height and no bonnet in front of you doing that speed - it was amazing. Unfortunately that was the only time it went that fast since my parents are not exactly speed deamons and by the time I got the van it was pretty old.

But that boxer engine and those driving dynamics - best VW ever.

I grew up since then and now I have two Opels, not as grand as my old folk's Mercs but German nonetheless and more reliable than the old van :p

I've had 2 VWs before, 1993 Jetta 3 Converted to a 1.6D engine ROFL, and a 1995 Jetta 3 CSX, and now I drive a 2004 A4 2.0L Exec.

Jettas were amazing, that 1.6D was the ultimate students car! R100 bucks to go to Margate and back from PMB!
I bought the second Jetta for too cheap, and found out why a weeks later, clutch was on its way out, so i did the brakes, clutch, all cvs, welsh plugs, and all the crank seals for like R4000 i think a battery died on me too :-S

The Audi has been ok, the B6 audis have a plastic impeller in their water pumps, so that was changed under maintainence, only other thing that was changed was a bearing on the Aircon pulley system, oh and the Airbag light came on.
My Electric window also went, but cost R2600 to fix and a Driveshaft failed costing me R10k :(. my 105000km service cost R830, and now the big service (Cambelt etc.) at 120000km is going cost R2500. i mention this because i see people being charged R3000k for a POLO! If you live in KZN, only buy VWs and Audis from Barons in PMB!!! i live in Durbs now, and i still take my car to PMB for servicing!

But seriously i love this car, 660km off a tank city driving and close to 800km on the open road!!! Dual Climate Control, Cruise control, 10 Speaker Audi Sound System, and ESP which has proved usefull...
Insurance at 22years old is a bitch tho :-S

I have me a 2000 Merc C200 (W202) and now has only 146000 km on the clock. Had to replace the mass airflow sensor (R 3800.00) and a couple of other small odds due to wear. As long as you keep it serviced it just keeps going on and on. Gets me where I need to be without fail. Never mind the distance I travelled, I have never gotten out of the car with "driver fatigue". For me it's a keeper, although getting on in years, I have no reason to exchange it for a new / different ride. hmm well maybe an additional capable 4X4 in the near future...lots of bush and desert to discover in Africa :D

I have a VW jetta 3 CLX, 1997 model. 155K's on at the moment.

Had one issue with the ignition last year, had to replace it. Other than that, the most reliable car i have ever had.

I am on my 3rd Renault at the moment. Grand Scenic 1.9dci. Open road, in sixth gear with cruise control on = ± 4.4 l / 100km. not bad for a thing that weighs nearly 2.5 ton. actually it is a very nice car for both town and highway driving. cambelt service at 60000 was a bit expensive, but otherwise no complaints

Seat Ibiza Cupra TDI. Revo map with large bore DP and cat-back on the way

She's a chain smoker just like daddy ;)

It's a love/hate relationship, she's a sickly child but a monster at the same time.

LOL ! :D A German car in a Spanish outfit - that is a love/hate relationship all by itself.

German ingenuity coupled with Spanish flair! ;) The red headed step child of VAG but once they're in your heart there's no letting go

'99 Opel Astra 160i, bought her at 64000km 7 years ago. I've since added 273000km and I still get 12km/L. It' a lovely car to drive, but (as said before) the trim's starting to show its age. So, it's time to move on and I'm sadly not going to be staying with Opel.

Until GM finishes its corporate restructuring it is silly to buy Opel again in SA. We only get the Corsa locally and it is pretty expensive. The new Astra is as good as the Insignia (European car of the year 2009) but its not coming to SA. My next car will most likely be a Hyundai.

Im starting this thread for all of us to show appreciation to their cars, my car for example is a tata indica 1.4lsi 2005 model, i bought it last year as i was struggling with traveling and finances so the TATA was my best bet, After all the hair raising things i've heard about tata's im glad to report that more than a year on, my tata is still going strong, still has more than enough space for my gf and dog :) and as of yet hasn't really given me any lebra troubles...she's not the fastest car on the road but she holds her own and will never let you down when looking for that little burst of speed, the point is i paid less to nothing for her and didnt expect much! but the tata has way exceeded my expectations and made a fan out of me ! (yes i know i may be the only one :) ) what car do you drive ? and what makes "HER" or "HIM" special ? more importantly What has your car got or done that has exceeded your expectations of it ?

I drive my honda. It makes it special by its bra. It looks more sophisticated and nice. For me it looks nice. I modify also its exhaust system that is why it exeeded my expectation.
