Your flickr space ...

You give up your copyright on Facebook, best to actually read the T&C doc

As far as I remember you don't give up anything, but you grant them indefinite license to do as they please with it.

Something else to keep in mind, once you upload something to facebook, it never goes away. This is for technical reasons: given the volume of images they deal with (several billion), it's too expensive to delete anything. They actually measure things in disc cycles. They also say that storage is cheap enough not to have to worry about that.

I dont intend to make money...

I like sharing my memories.
So do most people who post online but it doesnt mean they should expect to give up or share their rights as far as copyright goes.

Flickr sucks... I can only have 3 sets, to have more, I must purchase a pro account.
I don't have money for that... who wants to buy me a pro account? ;)

PS: I uploaded the MyBB meet pictures (first meet, hq pictures) for those interested.

Smugmug has communities as their group thingy. I usually have around 30000 hits on my pics per month with about 5000 hits on large or bigger versions. Don't get too many comments though.
Do people on smugmug actually critique rather than just mutually appreciate each other, handing out awards like they were Halloween candy?

Difficult one to answer Bwana, as the people looking don't seem to be there to critique, but rather seem to be enjoying the pics. This pic has received quite a few comments, mainly back patting:

One sometimes gets quite honest critique on Outdoorphoto, but there's a lot of backpatting there too.

Oh well. Maybe I'll give Smugmug a look see. I'm just using that Flickr account these days to embed images into the forum anyway. :)

Bwana, what are your plans for the flickr group? Do you have any guidelines in the works? Would be nice if we had a "show your best shots" type guideline. And if everyone uploaded their good stuff!

That could work - or considering the ever increasing number of new shooters perhaps a critique style so people learn something. Perhaps through tagging we can make it optional?

I'm open to more suggestions.

I was thinking upload to the flickr group and just embed here to advertise. But having it on flickr exposes us to the rest of the flickr userbase.

I've been takign trouble seeking out groups where my shots are relevant and posting. It has made a marginal difference to my view count (less than I had hoped) but more importantly, a handful of the people who have either commented here or there, or have started following my stream are clearly doing the same kind of stuff as me, which means I've discovered other people's stuff to look at that is relevant for me. There are a handful of people who's work I really enjoy, for one reason or another. Gives me ideas and inspiration

Right, I've gotta run - want to stop by Wing Singh (awesome camera shop in Hong Kong) before my flight.
