Your temu orders

I just paid duties on 2 orders that shipped together:
Order one R 210, used R150 off voucher
Order two R1 400, used R650 off voucher
Duties R280 - 17% of the total checkout value, which is pretty much in line with what we have been paying up till now.
In my experience, both as a sender and receiver, duties are only levied on the actual invoice amount paid.

wife wants some clothes

is there heavy tax on clothes
It should be 45% + Vat but Temu/Shein orders don't get the full pain but it's getting there, some guys on this thread have had some pretty high duties charged on clothes.

Yup my last order was R467, tax was R114, which is 24% but it was 3 shirts and a pair of shoes. Also noticed that makeup and nail stuff can also be a bit higher.

I paid R97.40 on an order of R483, works out to about 20%, with not clothing.

Courier was Fastway, had my parcel 9 days after order, so no complaints there.

Well I just got duties of R53 on a R199 order, no clothing in the order.
This took 9 days from order to delivery in my hands, very impressive.

If Temu keeps this up, as in they maintain their cheap prices and free/cheap fast shipping, they are going to make a permanent and not insignificant dent in the local market. For most things I can wait 9 days or even 14 days and even more so when I'm saving a good 50% off or more on local prices, add to that a massive range of stuff that is often very difficult to source in South Africa. For instance I needed one little tool that was only R45 locally but I needed to pay R100 for delivery, on Temu I got a pack of 4 of the same tool for R85 and free shipping and I probably could have got it far cheaper if I had watched the price for a week or 2.

That's the bread and butter of Temu for me. There are just little things that you can't get locally at all, or you can but it's just an import that costs 20 times more than getting it from Temu yourself.

For example, there in-line keystone network jacks. Could not find this locally anywhere - you would think you can 🤷‍♂️

Or silicon weatherstripping, again nowhere to be found locally.
