YouTube Links

I don't use the YouTube app at all anymore.

Little tip for those wondering how to disable it - the app that is - go to Settings>General>Restrictions> and toggle YouTube (under allow) to off. From then on any Youtube link should open in Safari.

Great tip bwana, wow! Vevo and other videos which aren't allowed on mobile still not opening for me, unfortunately. Maybe it's just my connection right now.

Woot thanks B! It's been bugging me for a long time that I have to use the YouTube app the whole time!

I can play all the YouTube stuff now, but I still can't play this channel's videos (YouTube: One Direction VEVO)on the ipad, even after changing the mode to Desktop at the bottom of the page and changing my Location to Worldwide.

You problem is related to access issue both Bwana and myself referred to: not available for mobile.

This is a known issue with YouTube, and Google needs to fix this, alternatively the content provider could be choosing to not make this available for mobile devices.

I checked this channel on my Android phone and it reported not for mobile devices, so my hunch is that the content provider has implemented this. I will try this with an alternaive iOS browser and give feedback.

Thank you for that, always good to find someone who is level headed on these forums I.e. not part of the fanboy camps on either side.

At least that confirms Bwana's post, I.e. this is a known Google bug that still needs to be addressed or as you said the content provider for some reason has chosen to exclude mobile devices.

Feedback:

I tried the following iOS browsers:
- Google G-Whizz
- Apollo Free version
- Atomic Full version (set browser detection as Firefox & IE9)
- Opera Mini

All gave me a black box where the video should be. Atomic wanted me to install Adobe Flash. Opera was the only one that could give me a message "The uploader has not made this video available in your country".

Guess that solves the mystery :D

Oi dont let me slap you :)

I already mentioned that in Post #7

Does the same in Android, Just select desktop mode on the browser then it works perfectly.
Like bwana pointed out, dont think its Google or Apple in this case, more the uploaded and probably done because of adds.

Hahaha brilliant :p stop vying for more credits, already put you in this camp :D

Mmmhhh didn't consider advertising, good point; I'm sure you right on the money with that one. I.e. Google like Facebook still need to find a way to include Ads properly on their mobile estates.

When you upload videos to youtube there is a check box for "make this video available on mobile devices"
