Been having slow access on YouTube for more than a week now. On a 4Mbps account and it hardly loads

I'm talking about Top 10 YouTuber's videos. I know the ones that aren't as popular downloads slower since it's probably never been viewed in SA and thus not in the cache for our local google-goodies, but it's been dramatically slow for even Ray William Johnson. On a 4Mbps I'm not supposed to pause and wait for it to download first before watching.ya'know

On my MWEB connection, even RWJ videos are slow - so their throttling policies are insane on YT.
On this 'R1' deal from Afrihost it zooms as if its on my own PC ^ ^

Gives us a traceroute to youtube.com (not sure which server it will traceroute (IS or SAIX Google Cache Server)
maybe run of the tools
You don't want a traceroute to youtube.com, that will tell you nothing.

Instead do a traceroute to this for example: v10.lscache2.c.youtube.com

That will trace to the back-end server serving the video stream to you. Although there are many more, that should be enough to give you an idea.

Hi all,

Please advise if Youtube is slow intermittently or at certain times during the day?

Regards,
MWEB Guy

Streaming issue back for me as well. Can't watch youtube, justin.tv or anything. Fun Times. *sigh*

Hi All,

Please PM me your MWEB account details so that I can have our team look into this form our side.

15mbit/sec at the office :)

I know its not ground breaking, but when you consider thats more than enough for 1080p streaming, and its off a cluster serving A LOT of people, its not bad at all.

I'm starting to wonder about what they say about congestion on the exchange, everything on my Mweb account is blazing fast, and I only know of two other people in my neighborhood with ADSL.

I only have to test a MMORPG then I can confirm everything on my Mweb account is fast, people complaining about Mweb should use SAOL uncapped for a week, you would kill yourself.
