Interested in expanding my HA by adding a few Zigbee devices.

So I need to, obviously, pick up a Zigbee bridge, and am considering the basic Sonoff version for up to 32 devices (https://www.sonoffafrica.co.za/product/sonoff-zbbridge-smart-zigbee-bridge/)

Now I'm progressively replacing/reflashing/re-integrating my existing non-Zigbee devices so that they can be controlled via LAN (so cloud connectivity is not an issue)

My question is whether the Sonoff hub will allow local comms or does it always need to talk back to the EweLink service?

I'm running a sonoff hub flashed with tasmota. No more ewelink ever. Works perfectly.

I would recommend rather getting a USB Zigbee stick. I have used both, and the connection to the Sonoff WiFi hub was..... acceptable at best, and I have a full Unify setup with multiple APs and great coverage. I switched to the Sonoff USB 3.0 Zigbee stick and it's been brilliant. Fully local, no Sonoff / Ewelink whatever to deal with either!
