Zuma won't debate Zille

Zuma's refused to answer Helen Zille's list of 10 questions to him.

He said why should he debate her, she's someone who's trying to make herself bigger than she is by using others (sorry, don't have a link - heard it on kfm this morning).

He clearly doesn't quite understand the concept of democracy yet. This, together with the 'kill for Zuma' comments, are quite depressing.
 
He cannot publicly debate anything, we've already seen how useless he is without a pre-prepared speech to read from.

In any case, very few of JZ supporters will even understand what the questions are asking, never mind their implication

That man is a buffoon so entering into a public debate isn't exactly going to put him in a good light. He would lose a debate with a 4 year old.

However, him looking like a buffoon isn't really detrimental to his image amongst the people who will vote for him.

Yes, after reading the questions I agree that they are a bit... pointed.

But the issues are valid, even if the questions themselves are framed in an accusatory way.

I agree completely, I don't think 90% of people are aware with these issues. As horrible as it sounds, it's purely a popular vote. There are no issues being addressed, he says only what people what to hear. Compared to USA, the election here is unheard of, and we live in SA.

Tough questions. If he answered those he would look even more like an idiot than he does now. And I think he would get TRUMPED in a REAL debate (like the american presidential candidates do so often) Amazing that in south africa there are never debates like this any more.

Its good to see what your future president actually stands for by participating in debates such as this. Not just wearing an ANC T shirt, and singing Mshini Wannnnn Mshini wannn, that tells us nothing of how you are going to run the country.

DA - complains, never gives adequate solutions...

Those questions obviously have a motive behind them... I seriously doubt any politician would answer questions like that...
 
Zuma is certainly not up to the task of public debate with an intellectual like Zille. Not by a long shot.
Actually, you would be hard pressed these days to find and ANC lackey that is.

At the end of the day, the ANC's 'refusal' to publicly debate issues with the opposition running up to next years election a strategy to keep the voting population uninformed and secure their support base.
At the end of the day, the people loose.

Debate is essential to a healthy democracy.
 
The ANC promote ignorance. Plain and simple.
It keeps them in power.

But it's also the way he says he won't debate them. He'd get more respect if he said "Those are deliberately loaded questions, which clearly show their agenda, and if they want to debate the issues they should frame them in a neutral way".

As opposed to what he did say, which was effectively, "Why should I debate with her? She's a nobody, trying to make herself important by attacking me".
 
CathJ, that is probably what he meant to say, at least, that is what the youth league would have you believe, it is because he cannot express himself in english quite correctly (as proposed on 3rd degree last night), expect and unclear clarification in due course.
 
Lol, damn that woman is smarter (if she thought up, which i doubt, the questions) than I gave her credit for.

They are slightly but no worse than what leaders would be asked by the opposition in other countries. They're mainly pointed because of how ridiculous some of Zuma's statements are

Exactly, he's basically saying the ANC's not accountable to anybody.
