Those are just a few that are still in my GMail account's Spam 'folder', but the frequency of these is increasing, and I don't have any more time to spend on these.

I have reported each one as a Phishing message, so Vodacom risks having entire blocks of IP addresses blacklisting unless Vodacom cracks down on the source of the spam, i.e. cutoff the SIM Card(s) being used to send the spam...

I received a phising mail on my work email yesterday from some Nigerian "bank". lol. One question, how do you see those emails are being sent from Vodacom numbers? (And im being serious as im intrigued) :)

oh! Im such a poo. haha. thanks man. :) hmmm, maybe look for ocleroux, maybe he can make something happen for you.

Today I received already 5 of those ABSA messages. Currently I am on a vodacom public ip number as well, so if they do not address this, it will mean that our ip's will get blocked. The sender looks like they might be from outside the country, if you look at the url path in the link in those mails. It point to some sort of health domain. It may be that the ip number from vodacom is actually phised by these ppl.

Do a whois lookup on the IP addresses that the emails were sent from [which is why I posted that info from the email headers], those are all Vodacom IP addresses.
According to the whois - abuse reports can be sent to
Code:
remarks: Abuse: [email protected]
remarks: Abuse: [email protected]
A few weeks back VC was being lambasted for their failure to handle abuse complaints about their network. It seems that they have not made the improvements that were promised.

edit:
VC seem to have a rather major abuse problem on their network. On average they have about 1400 blacklisted hosts on their network.

We had an issue where we had a guy using multiple 3G sims to send spam these are prepaid sims and can be disposed of easily.

It is possible to track the perpetrator as this is an everyday story but with RICA now in place its more difficult for these guys to send spam and register these sims.

Spam emails entering our network are monitored constantly , there was a figure somewhere cant remember where 90% of the emails received were spam.

Did you respond to my thread regarding the spam from Aserbaijan via Vodacom ? NO !

Taking this seriously ? I doubt it. V3G used to sort things out chop chop.

Big Kriss

This is entirely different, different message system, you receiving these messages from a cell number.

As a matter of fact i did inquire about the number , i have emailed SMS support to ask if there is an option to block one specific number as i know we blocked and entire network before.

Thank you for finally responding. Appreciate the action taken by yourself and hope the outcome is positive.
You need to make public actions taken or comments , no other way we are going to know if Vodacom are aware of this and whether they are able to take action .
If not, we assume you are simply wiping your butt on us.
Nothing personal here, I know this is voluntary and I for one appreciate your time and effort.
Please just give feedback.

I now know its from a number and will delete it and forget it ever happened. Unfortunately with all the crap Vodacom 23 send us Im terribly skeptical about any stuff I get om my cell.
Opting out does not make my life any easier either. I only opt out from your spam selling caravans on that day. It does not opt me out from your blow up dolls, chinese lead toys or any other product you force on me without my consent.

Big +1 here.

on topic, I havent had spam from vodacom in a while now to be honest? I get the odd calls from people wanting to sell me funeral cover, but thats because of one of my other accounts.

Being a good South African consumer and Vodacom subscriber means keeping your mouth shut and your wallet open...DO I MAKE MYSELF CLEAR?! :D

I also received one or two of those Vodacom 23 things...but it seems to have stopped. Those were SMS/MMS though. Cant say I have ever received a Vodacom spam mail. Not from Vodacom directly though. Whether some of the spam mails I receive is sent via the Vodacom network I dont know.

Wider my wallet cannot go!!! :erm: I want a job at Vodacom, Johburg...No seriously, I want to relocate.... :o

I opted out of those and it worked. I get some mms' from adme or something, think i subscribed to them. But i get a message once a month or so. So the spam's not so bad for me anymore. :)

Another thing, I'm getting sick of all the SMS spam they're sending. :/
