Hi,

If you live in PvR, Centurion and play online games via ADSL:
Can you please tell me if you ever experience erratic latency and how often you do.

Also please indicate your ISP and line speed.

I'm in contact with someone that can possibly help, but we need more evidence.

If you can post tracert and/or ping results here to local sites it would be appreciated (if you have issues).

Thanks!

Hi,

Yea the latency (in WOW) jumps from 280-600 within 40-60 sec and keeps oscillating like that 90% of the time. I also phoned Telkom and according to them they are upgrading the exchange to be able to accommodate the 10mb line speeds. Personally I think our exchange is completely over loaded. When I get home I will do a tracert and line speed tests and post them. What I have also find is that the latency locally is very high, even if I just ping Johannes burg I'm sitting at 300ms.

Well Latency recently spikes from about 18h30 to just after 19h00. Also speed drops to 5KB/s > during that same time. Also sometimes during the night I get disconnected, but this doesn't happen so often. I am on afrihost and telkom and their seems to be no difference. Line speed 384. Will post my tracert and ping tonight when I am home.

Our exchange is over loaded it is running at max most of the time between 16h00 to 21h00.

I'm not getting any disconnection but speed goes down significantly. I'm sitting on a 4mb line with Web Africa unshaped and most of the time I'm sitting at 1.2mb only picks up to close to 4mb after 10 at night. Worst thing is we can do NOTHING about it. Number 012 662 2xxx

Ditto Fayera. This is exactly my experience as well and I am also with WA and a 4mb line. You're still lucky to get 1.2 Mb/s. Mine drops to roughly 0.4 - 0.5 Mb/s. Number 012 663 3xxx.

jellievis, don't worry I have those 0.4-0.5 moments as well...I'm not technical but if a line speed drops to those speeds from 4mb/s that means it is VERY overpopulated. How can they just keep adding people to it then?

Nee my vriend dit gaan nooit regkom nie.

We are talking about Telkom here. Been like this for ages! Just spoke to telkom again and they do the normal resets and bullsh%t and then techy comes and says" sorry sir, but nothing wrong with your line"...

Nope, someone else with a lot of credibility. I won't reveal him for fear that every Tom, Dick and Harry would spam him with requests.

I can respect that. Can he accidental break something so that I can have a 10mb line :p .

I will not get my hopes up just yet then :) Just keep bugging Telkom

So what does connection of yours say. What is really wrong and how can they fix it?

He needs more evidence to show that its not just me experiencing the issue, so please post tracerts and pings to local sites.
As I type this pings shot upfrom 20ms to moving between 20 and 230 in an erattic fashion.
