I hope so. I hope the smaller players can use our technologies to 'punch above their weight' and compete on an even playing field.

Mind you, larger players are also at liberty to benefit from our technologies to offer better quality calls and reduce their costs.

This is a SIP-level exchange - so it covers issues such as the actual peering agreements, financial settlement of minutes, CLI management, security and anti-voip-spam features, routing of numbers etc etc. If you try one or two you will see it normally takes quite a few weeks longer to to do a SIP (or VoIP) interconnet than an IP interconnect.

Also, when you connect to this Federation, you also connect to the global Federation. This is important for sending international traffic to other operators with High Definition Voice (and video, presence etc). It is also important for looking up numbers globally where there is number portability in different countries.
