MWEB uncapped ADSL advertising claims put to the test

Perhaps the focus of the complaint was incorrect. He should have focused more the claim that the connection is "ideal" for video conferencing, downloading, etc, where the customer was unable to do so at certain times of the day.

I'm not on 384k but I'm sure he has another issue. Having said that, I do notice some skype users having issues because of the shaping...

I take you a bet that if ASA was a client and subscriber of Mweb 'Uncapped' they would be singing a different tune.

Top marks Mweb for hiring a good debater that can play nicely on words and meaning .... but we all know that 'Uncapped' truely aint Uncapped.

Yeah exactly, the only reason mweb won that court case is due to the fact that at the end of the day you still have internet not matter how crappy it is. The problem people are facing is that the shaping is so harsh that the service isn't good enough to live up to the advertising.

This all makes me all think of that Lobiest movie with Aaron Eckhart ... for the likes of me, I cant remember the name.

[MWEB added that Heunis has not provided any evidence that they do not provide a “full-time” internet connection or that its usage policies are draconian. “We are therefore unable to respond to these vague allegations,” MWEB said.]

Well here is Mr Heunis's problem, no evidence. This means if you want to complain you must have evidence until then don't complain.

And another round of Mweb bashing ensues *sigh* People should get over themselves, and stop nit picking... #justsaying

Evidence would be nice. I mean even as i was reading this article I was thinking to myself, what is being shaped? When is it being shaped? What have you done to bring this upon yourself?

I'm a 4mb uncapped mweb user and I never have problems to be honest. I download my fair share and I use almost all of the protocols on the network and I don't notice any problems.

So the question is, why does he?

Right idea, wrong implementation. From this we see that all it is gonna take is one person who downloads 24/7 using download managers without bypassing shaping & then getting abuse notification to invalidate their claim of 'all the time'.

“It is clear that MWEB’s product is uncapped in that it ex facie never terminates one’s connection,” the ASA said."

How does a permanent connection mean uncapped? This statement would then mean that your basic ADSL Account shaped, unshaped and capped is uncapped.

Total Rubbish.

Not sure why people are whinging.....

Month Data Sent (MB) Data Received (MB) Total (MB)
December, 2010 939.08 2292.47 3231.55
November, 2010 43303.55 186188.39 229491.94

TOTAL 121149.80 463900.26 585050.06

The above is since signing up on 17 September without bypassing shaping in anyway or downloading 24/7.....
So from my personal experience i can't complain that MWEB have not been keeping with what they advertised and I signed up for....

Never got this with any of my other accounts , its almost like they drop you ever 4 hours or so ....
System Uptime 17 hours 46 minutes
Connected Time 2hr 20min 53sec

oh what a bunch of complainers. use any of the other 10`s isps then if u dont want to use mweb, dont bitch and moan about it. theres no contracts on those options he listed.

read the fup - if u dont agree with it. dont use the service. if they have to buy enough connectivity to allow every1 to download all day long while their business clients are also on, then the service would be more expensive, those options are available also.
