Constant disconnects

I cannot use my cap at all - CellC probably decided to switch off the base station in my area as I am unable to pick up 3G with force mode on. - Guess its back to the tv room(walking around aka war driving) have like 3gig to go

Same here!!! I've been on EDGE for a week now. There's competition now (Webstorm). Cell C better fix this problem quickly.

Gordon's Bay, Cape Town

Lately the disconnects, EDGE only problem can only be seen in the evening in my area.

Also, when connected to 3g I get max speeds of about 300 kb/s in Gordon's Bay. I've tested the dongle in Steenberg where I got max speeds of 3 mb/s

Constant disconnects on EDGE in Potchefstroom too. Was expecting at least 3G, wasnt expecting 3.5G or WHOOSH, judging from their maps. This EDGE is slower than slow, needed to download a driver, a whole 5MB took me 12 attempts, more than 2 hours in attempts and maximum speed was 2Kbps....the constant drops in the line, even with good signal is more than frustrating.

Would take it back to them, but only tested it now - more than 2 weeks after buying the unit - damn. Wonder how long its going to take them to sort Potchefstoom out. Lot's of students this side!

Come on Cell C... This problem should be sorted out already. It is BAD. I must have had to reconnect 20 times yesterday. I've tried using a Mac and a PC -same problem!

same here, am totally gatvol now, I want to be able to work from home, not have to cruise the friggin fourways area to find a coffee shop where I get a good connection, less than 500m from home everything is perfect, as soon as I cross William Nicol and get home, connect, disconnect, reconnect, disconnect, reconnect, disconnect and so it continues FFS, connected now on MTN no problems even with a weaker signal, get your friggin act together CellC, last week you were promising us all how close you were to fixing this!!!

In the 56k days you could put in a command string to help it stay connected, I don't see how that is possible with this mobile software, I did find an option for disconnecting and it is set to never XP.

Absolute $hi! Service from cell-c.r.a.p.
Wonder where Ron is, the spin doctor!

Amazing how Cell C was so quick to chirp in on the Cell See topics when we were at first raving about the new '4G' offering. Now that there are problems they are making for the airport with our hard earned money.
I just had a 4MB download disconnect twice before I managed to get the file. Nevermind having to reconnect ever 5 to 10 minutes (seriously).

sitting on the out-of-bundle rate now..couple hours more
Thou no disconnections on my side today

Regarding the earlier post on pinging. Why ping google? I have set my machine to ping cell.co.za after all, its their incompetence. Also, if enough of us do it might be interpreted as a DoS attack which will serve them right.

I am seriously getting annoyed with CELL C Woooooosh Product, like seriously the base station in my area has been down for over 12hours, once they switched on the base station wasn't even able to download at full speeds... Only at 20KB/s or so, then after a few megs, I get disconnected, I wonder if this has something to do about the "Full Duplex" and "Half Duplex" crap they talking about - I am sure the hardware they purchased comes with some sort of warranty why not replace it in a months time.... Seriously this is getting annoying now,now I see why the wooooosh is a promotion to allow the "Genie pigs" to test the network and report back on problems....

Base station down once again..

Goodbye 2500megs flushed down the toilet.......

Rondebosch, Cape Town. Constant disconnects. Probably had to get up and reconnect 25-30 times today (using my 3G with my wifi router through an old netbook). My old Vodafone modem works fine, so its definitely a 'Cell Slow' problem.

CellC rep is nowhere to be found. Figures, once the sh*t hits the fan they run & leave you high & dry.
This problem has been there from the onset & a few months down the line still not resolved.
All the disconnect & reconnect eating at my cap as well, but do we get refu*king-funded? NO!!!
We just get NO ANSWERS, NO WOOOOSH, NO *****ALL!!!!!!!

Use MDMA, most of the problems comes from the CellC software. They are aware of it though, there was even an article a few days ago describing the problem in more detail.

Parklands, Cape Town - Constant disconnects and slow speeds

Been getting gradually worse over the last month or so.

Slow

Lower Tamboerskloof - Cape Town
Been cutting off every few minutes today.
Extremely frustrating.
This hasn't happened in 3 months.

Negative, I'm using MDMA and the problems persist, the constant disconnect issues and lack of data throughput are network hardware related as was explained by Ron Reddick in the forums last week.

The frustration amongst some forumites is based on posts and promises made by CellC last week that they were on top of issues and would have them resolved soon, initially we had some very good feedback from Ron himself and he even promised to get a CellC rep back onto myBB which we had for maybe all of two days. Now Ron and the rest of CellC have gone quiet on the issue and it would appear based on the number of complaints that quite a few users are experiencing major problems with network connectivity, however these appear to be localised to specific areas and not the network as a whole. I now know for instance that if I connect to cell 19731 then I haven't got a snowballs chance of having anything like a stable connection.

However I also think that throwing wild accusations at other members of the community that may not be experiencing problems and may well in fact be having a very good CellC experience is not being very constructive.

My concern is CellC's fragmented approach in resolving the issue and I really wish they'd get their act together and tell us what is going on and what is happening, it was nice getting direct feedback from Ron last week, but either he now thinks the problem is resolved or else the issue is bigger than they lead us to believe so now they've gone underground.

Stellenbosch - No connection or constant disconnects

@ronbo4gs My girlfriend and I both have a 5gb Cell C 3g package. Connection at her house is so unstable that she at most times cannot load Google's homepage. Connection at my house is good with full signal but it continues to disconnect itself.

With 20k + students in the Stellenbosch area, one would think that Cell C would want to target this market with a data service that actually works! Instead I've been disconnected five times whilst writing this post.

Why is the connection so unstable in Stellenbosch? Why does my modem continue to disconnect itself? Further, what recourse options are there?
