Constant disconnects

Well, of the 3 people I have helped with Cell-C 5G packages, two are over the moon, and are getting very good speeds, no disconnects, and the third, is barely getting 500kbps, Cell-C techies is supposed to come around and check ... , but his connection, however slow, does not disconnect. It is my opinion that the structures around him are negatively affecting his "reception", and that an external antenna should solve his dilemma ... , just so happens that he is closer to one of the 2 Cell-C towers in the area than the other 2 guys ... , so don't go off on the guys who are singing Cell-C's praises and you are not experiencing similar joy ... , there are probably good reasons therefore ...

Cut-Offs

Still cutting out here in lower Tamboerskloof all the time since this morning. This really sux!!!!!:mad:

Hello...another complainant from Rondebosch to join the list.

Details: in Rondebosch, Cape Town. Average download speed: never more than 0.6 Mbps (max: 0.9 Mbps). Upload speed sometimes up to 1 Mbps. Frequent disconnection and often I can only pick up the 2G network. WTF, Trevor!?

Newlands West,Durban avg 20kbps with 24-7 disconnects,purchased only 6days ago

I emailed cell c last week because i was having disconnecting issues. They replied with this.

"Hi,

We have been experiencing disconnection issue's over the last few days but this was due to planned maintenance performed during the network upgrade.

Regards
Online Support Team"

Since then it has been working fine for me, this is in Joburg so im not sure if this applies to you as well?

Negative, I'm using MDMA and the problems persist, the constant disconnect issues and lack of data throughput are network hardware related as was explained by Ron Reddick in the forums last week.

Are you using the latest version of MDMA, the one where you have to rename a connection to MDMA. It's only since that version, that most of my problems have gone.

Hi

I stay in Kuilsriver and I have been getting constant disconnections for over a month now.
Lost data!!
How do I get my money back?

Guys who say they get disconnected alot..have you tried using the CellC sim on another device/modem to the same pc? Can either rule out the modem or the sim because:
I used a normal pre-paid sim on a vodafone modem and NEVER did get disconnected. I mean it for the whole month of Jan. Now that Iv got this modem I do get disconnected from time to time, even on my Vodafone modem with the CellC data deal sim

Oh great. So now I must use another modem. This is just F@#%'n BS. What an absolutely useless service provider.

There are definitely network issues at the moment... I have had regular disconnects in the past, and today, I can connect fine, but get NO data... like nothing - had to post this via Vodacom internet :(

Well, well, well. It seems Cell C has done something to the Stellenbosch towers. No disconnects tonight so far and that without pinging.
If you guys have issues, send a mail to onlinesupport aT cellc.co.za
EDIT: Still connected. Tower 42291 (courtesy MDMA)

Still disconnecting every hour at least twice for me.
Data lost will probably never be refunded as complaints fall on deaf ears at cellc.

Must be honest, I'm beginning to fear the worst... that the promotion was all about network testing and we're the guinea pigs! With Vodacom and MTN on the brink of releasing their own 42/21mbps based product offerings, and CellC's lack of ability to provide a stable high-speed network/service... CellC is going to lose big time! One thing I can say about Vodacom and MTN is that when they release a consumer product offering it is thoroughly tested and only made public when it is proven to be stable and production ready. CellC is beginning to look a little like Microsoft, excellent strategy and marketing, but the product doesn't match the hype... ala Win 95, 98, ME, Vista!

Sad, very sad... even though they promise to respond to complaints, they never do... got this auto-reply on the 2011-01-02 and 2011-02-06:

Dear .... ,

We're on top of your complaint and will contact you shortly. Once we have resolved your complaint, we'll publish it on the site.

Thanks to your feedback we can build a better Cell C. The power is in your hands.

Glad to be of service,
The Cell C Team

I fear CellC are slipping back to the CellC of old!

You're right!!! Just put my Cell C sim in my old E220 modem and (on EDGE) it never disconnects. I figured since I've been stuck on EDGE for 2 weeks now let me try another modem.
So it looks like these E1820 modems could be causing a lot of the disconnects. I wonder if Cell C know anything about this.

I've been getting frequent disconnects on my Nokia N900. At the end of last year I could go online and it would stay connected for hours. Since the beginning of this year, it disconnects frequently.
