Hi folks

We are currently planning a mobile broadband network information seminar where Vodacom will discuss the more technical aspects of their network, what their future plans are and the like.

The purpose is give MyBroadband forum members a chance to learn more about the mobile technologies used by Vodacom, some of the latest innovations in the cellular space, what challenges operators face in deploying new technologies and what fibre network rollout developments.

It is therefore NOT a conference, media briefing or something similar: It is a friendly information sharing seminar.

If there is enough demand we may organize events in most large cities.

A few questions:

--Are you keen to attend a seminar like this?

--We are planning it on a Wednesday afternoon (from 14:00 to around 17:00 with drinks afterwards). Will this time suit you?

--What aspects of Vodacom’s network and services would you like to learn more about?

Would be interesting to attend but I voted no because I'm 1000km away from Joburg....

ps. Hope this is not some long talk filled with excuses to try and "wooo" the mybb members. ;)

I would LOVE to attend! I think I will speak to my office manager and ask if I can leave work early that day. I love it when guys talk techno geek! Who gonna to the speaking? Jannie?

Jannie will definitely be speaking. We are only planning it now, and will finalize matters after we receive feedback from you guys.

Sounds like a very cool seminar, I guess JHB only?
Not at all. JHB first - obviously :D - but if there is enough interest we are planning similar events for CT, Durban and even places like Bloem and PE.

Pity it's planned for an afternoon.

Generally my afternoons are busier than my mornings.

Oh come now you bloody womaninz! I will be there....we can sit together and giggle when Jannie says "It is hard work to get our towers erect" lolz.

Make a plan...MAKE A PLAN! I am so excited for this.

Sounds like a Vodacon attempt to convert users. Vodacon is trying to be Oprah Winfrey :p Why not post all this info online for everyone to see? Why do you need to "gather" to hear tall tales? I just don't get it.

Jannie's been trying to convert us for how long now. Now he want's to feed us more excuses in person. :p

Seems like it. It's due the fact that CellC organized an event to have Mybb members attend their 42mbps network rollout. Vodacon is playing catchup. CellC was first, again.

Cool. If you held one in CPT I would make a plan to go regardless of time of day.

Afternoon suits me because if it were in the morning, "drinks after" would probably not involve things like Frangelico :p

You are totally misguided here. We are trying to organize these events from our side - and Vodacom agreed. Other operators to follow if there is enough interest.

It has very little to do with consumer complaints or pricing plans: It is a technical network and operations seminar where MyBB members can learn more about Vodacom's network, mobile technologies and the like.

I'm misguided since it wasn't mentioned in the original post that other operators might join  If it was, I definitely didn't see it.

I know about that. It's not the same as Vodacon blowing their horn though.

This is not a freakking Cell C thread dammit! Jannie wants to tell us about the existing infrastructure, how it works and what technology we can expect in the future. It is free and there's gonna be drinks afterwards. What more you want??? I for one am keen to hear about these things and learn. If you not interested then cool...but this is NOT something to do with Cell C and there freakking Whoooshhhhh!

Hey, don't get snappy with me, I'll put you back in your Red corner, watch it.

The fact remains the question posed was if we would be interested in attending. I made my choice clear by saying it sounds like another Vodacon conversion attempt and that is the reason why I would NOT choose to attend.

If you can't live with honest feedback, go fly a kite, see if I care.

What is the point in listening to Jannie about how useless Vodacom is and will be and that they are not intersted in the consumer's voice but rather the shareholder's voice.
They're not here to give us what we want so why listen to their excuses why they won't give us what we want.

Affordable data/internet - Finish en klaar!
