So rather than getting your back up, ask for clarification. It seemed pretty obvious to me that it was a MBB initiative.

Even if Vodacom did organise it I still wouldn't see the problem. It's still about tech, which is something I'm interested in. I'm pretty sure if Jannie involved it's going to be a very technical informative session.

If you feel fooled by Vodacom, vote with your wallet and move on. I did.

WTF - this is not a brand war.
This stems from threads over the last few days, that have been heated in discussion around slow speeds, network congestion, tower rollout, backhual and micorwave supply.
These matters affect all operators around the world and the oppurtunity to learn more about it should be welcomed with open arms.

Bringing a brand battle into this specific topic negates the true purpose around which the idea was conceptualised I think.

I fully agree with you Shake&Bake. I was misguided, I confess, since I thought it was a Vodacon event, not Mybroadband.

I dont see why you would say that. This is not a event for Vodacom to put any of the other networks down. It is to share info on how the network works...MTN, Voda and Cell C use mostly the same tech (all be it from different vendors perhaps) but the info remains the same regardless of who presents it. This is not a conspircy against other network operators...merely a idea to share info with forumites thats interested in this kind of thing.
 
LOL... I just asked someone next to me if they wanted to go and hear about Vodacom discuss their technology and future plans... and they replied...

"Why would I want to go and listen to Grace Mugabe talk about dairy farming and milk production... ?"

If all the MNO's come we can learn all about the different technologies they've used and applied.

The tech remains the same. All networks are looking at doing 42mbs roll out (Vodacom has already started)....sit down tera.....and Cell C is about to start.

Vodacom though is looking towards LTE also which I am looking forward to hearing about. They have already done live testing of this tech whereas MTN or Cell C seems to be a bit dormant on this side. I think Jannie will be the best person to cover all the bases for us. :-)

I'm sitting, I'm too tall to type whilst standing.

Pinocchio, I would actually love to hear more about LTE and what Voda is doing, how fast the rollout nationally would take and at what cost and the technical requirements of such a network.
 
I agree OC. But also remember that Cell C is looking at growing their HSPA+ network rather than LTE. So it would be nice to hear from both parties why they made these decisions and what impact is has on the end user.

LTE has long been on the cards for MTN, just they're not making as much noise about it.
But they've always had less towers, but for me when my 3G needs were catered for between VC and MTN, MTN always came out tops for speed and coverage.
But that was just in my experience.

Anyway, not to get all side tracked again with brand discussions.
I just hope we get more feedback so we can get these events off the ground.
