Mobile broadband network information seminar

I want a tour of Jannies private server room @ Vodacom World (I know you have one there Jannie...dont deny it).....then I want to climb up into those big satelite dishes next to the highway @ Vodacom World and poke around to see if they connected to anything....then climb down and follow their cables to see where they go....and then lastly I want to sit behind Pieter Uys's desk and put my feet up and see what that feels like. :-)
 
Ask the catering staff to get some juice boxes, apples and sarmies with the crust cut off for Ockie please :D

JA....and no being stingy with the cheese on those sarmies! tsk.

Seriously though....Jannie something I would like to hear more about....how it works, pros...cons etc etc is spectrum refarming. Dont think Vodacom is actively doing this....but something I am interested in regardless so whatever you can share regarding that would be greatly appreciated. :-)

Well, you start with a bit of spectrum, break it into smaller pieces, plant them in incubators and nurse them to big chunks of healthy spectrum. Rinse and repeat.

Soon you'll have lots of spectrum.

Or you could just ask ICASA for a use-it-or-lose it policy......

Suspect option 1 is easier. ;)

If you guys want to do a walk-about, let's Organiser. RPM actually suggested this.

PS...not sure if I called it right....perhaps it is frequency refarming?:confused:

Oh no....I get dizzy just thinking about it. Besides...have you seen what the Ponte looks like inside? I would not go in there with a bio-hazzard suit on.

Would make sense to use the environment where we'll have the session.

In Jhb it most likely will be at the campus. Ponte sounds cool but we probably will have to sell OC's kidneys not to be kidnapped by the 'residents' ;)

At the campus there's lots of stuff to show, including the DC. Actually, we can stick OC in a Faraday cage and see if we can get him to glow, Southpark style. :)

In Cape Town, I'm not sure. You guys have never made it pass the wine cellar at my place in any case......:rolleyes:

What is a DC? It sounds exciting!!! Now I wont need to buy glow sticks no more when going clubbing....Ill have my own one! :-)

EDIT: or it could be the DC Power room... plug you into a rectifier (gelykrigter ?) - will sort you out very fast!!

YES!!!! I would love to see that!!!! I saw pics of it and it looked amazing! You guys can follow Jannie...dont mind me if I dissapear to find a terminal so I can test that babies porn streaming capabilities! Ill catch up later with you guys! :-)

Seriously though.....I would love to see the data centre. Also...Jannie is there like a BTS you can show us? I have always wanted to see what is in those buildings built next to it.
