Personally I'm seeing it more as a way for people to understand what goes on behind the scenes of running a mobile network. Most people don't actually comprehend the scale of these networks nor the effort that goes into keeping them running.

Personally I'm seeing it more as a way for people to understand what goes on behind the scenes of running a mobile network. Most people don't actually comprehend the scale of these networks nor the effort that goes into keeping them running.

Exactly, and you can't give honest feedback here either, or you are misguided and Vodacon trolls jump you.
I've had enough. Mybb is clearly not the same transparent entity I've known before, they are Vodacon suck puppets. I've had enough of this.
It's not a marketing seminar, it's about tech! Forget the consumer angle for a while and don your propeller hat

I think you missunderstood the whole point of this seminaar. This is for people that wants to learn more about the technical side of mobile networks. You clearly not interested. I got upset because this is a great thing that myBB and Vodacom wants to do. Not often that something like this happens and now you and others shooting it down. A simple No, not interested would have sufficed. Thats all.
As if that is why people buy data or any of there services

Rather host a debate with voda, mtn, cell c and 8ta senior representitives. Only having Vodacom there is terrible, especially for those who are tired of Vodacom's empty promises and I doubt they'll be subjective when speaking around technology and the way forward etc...

This just proves how much animosity there is towards Vodagone.
People feel raped by them for years and only after CC came on the scene, did they felt to do something about it.
Unfortunately, it's going to take allot of time and effort to change people's perception towards VC and MTN.

Personally I do actually like to know what's going on behind the scenes with any service I receive. No point in a shiny red front door if it's a rat nest of cables hidden behind it.
Again forget costs, meerkats and seeing red. IMO this is about people interested in the technology and getting a glimpse into what makes it tick. If you are not into tech, then this isn't for you.

As I mentioned guys like Teraside are entirely misguided regarding the aim of seminars like this. It is an opportunity to learn more about the technology and operational aspects involved with a mobile network: In the case Vodacom’s network.
I am somewhat amazed that we try to organise a free event where people can learn more about these technologies – and all a few guys can do is moan about unrelated things.
Teraside, Odracir: Will it make you happy if Cell C hosts such an event? If so I will ask them for exactly the same thing.

I'm not moaning about anything unrelated. A lot has been going re Vodacon and CellC and my response is completely justified in the fact that it seemed like Vodacon was trying to gear in new customers with this event.
If I had known it was Mybroadband organizing the event and not Vodacon and due to the reasons specified, to learn more about the back end technology I would not have "moaned".
It's starting to get obvious that my point isn't seen and I'm looking like a complainer, so whatever, enjoy the event.

Most of it may fly over my head, but that doesn't mean I can't research it some more.

To have all the networks there means it becomes a conference – a lot of work to organize such an event and costs start to escalate. This is a simple information sharing session…and as I mentioned I will definitely try to have the same types of events with other operators as well.
The idea actually came from another network, but it never materialized because of international/organization problems.
The fact that "We" attributes being Mybroadband, not Vodacon. Which means it's not initiated or orchestrated by Vodacon, but by Mybb.
What don't you understand? It's pretty obvious to me that if Vodacon organized the event it would be biased against other Operators and we would be left the fools, as in the past.

This stems from threads over the last few days, that have been heated in discussion around slow speeds, network congestion, tower rollout, backhual and micorwave supply.
These matters affect all operators around the world and the oppurtunity to learn more about it should be welcomed with open arms.
Bringing a brand battle into this specific topic negates the true purpose around which the idea was conceptualised I think.
