43Mbps HSPA+ milestone for Vodacom

Good...now upgrade my area so that I don't have to use Edge anymore >.<

Come on Vodacom, give us more data at a reduced price so that I can kick Neotel in the nuts.

That is.....quick.

Instead of draining my 2GB data bundle in two weeks, I can now do it in five minutes.

Now that's progress.

Are there any devices capable to utilizing these higher speeds?

Soon,
The new 43Mbps HSPA+ dongles will be in stores and bundles with existing data packages.

Come on Vodacom, give us more data at a reduced price so that I can kick Neotel in the nuts.

I'm sure they are working on it,
Uys concluded that consumers can also expect more value from Vodacom in the broadband market on a wider range of data products.

Ooooooo, 43Mbps sounds so much better than 42Mbps from CC.....

Wonder if they would still have made this announcement if Cell C wasn't going to launch their 43Mb/s network next week? ;)

The only thing Cell c can come back with now is cap size, and it better not be an extra Gig but an extra 20GB.

Next week 44 from cc?

These download speeds are "incompatible" with the current data prices. So guess it's not an alternative unless the "alleged easter announcement" surprises us...

Suddenly you think of ADSL as outdated technology.

How did our country's favorite telecoms company not see this one coming?

Oh, I forgot, they're now disguised as 8.ta petyta.

Well they say they are trying to keep up with international statndards, 1MB @ R2 is not interninational standard.... it daylight robbery!

+1, except aimed at MTN

EMpTyN has left South Africa a long time ago.

The yellow shops actually belong to Vodacom, but they couldnt add red there, otherwise people might think it's McDonalds and start looking for the clown. :)

Maybe they should be working on getting bigger bandwidth bundles than improving the speed? :)

The higher speed is to alleviate congestion and give everyone a better internet experience.

If everyone could get an average of 5 MBps DL speeds we would be happy, for NOW....:)

I'm delighted to hear that any cell phone company is improving network performance. I suppose the fact that the Vodacom OOKLA average is only 9.3% of network capability will come right at some point.

Like others, I wonder where these 42mbps base stations are? Certainly not in leafy Linden - however I have to admit that Vodacom's speed in my 'hood has increased from an average 1.7 to 4mps - which is better than a poke in the eye with a blunt stick....

They are busy laying fibre in our street at the moment to connect to the Telkom exchange on 3rd Ave, so back-haul for any of the companies shouldn't be an excuse any-more (hint).

However, even if Vodacom becomes the fastest wifi data network in SA, I will still not be a customer. Why? 'cos Cell C still have them beat on the 5Gig package. (if you're going to finally mount a competitive response, why not do it right?)

And finally, lest we forget, Vodacom has done something. MTN & 8ta are sitting on their arses. Vote with your wallets folks.

ps Did My BB ever announce the lucky winners of Cell C PE event?
