Hi Guys,

So from yesterday I've been unable to connect to the net. The ADSL light is active on the router, i checked on Afrihosts website when i got into work this morning and theres no problems from their side.

If i log into the router it says "Not Connected", so i click connect and nothing happens, it just goes back to not connected.

Could this be a problem with my router?

Thanks

Update: My Mom phoned Telkom and they did a router reset and said there are no problems from their side. They said it might be our server????
Im lost as to what they mean by that.

Was just reading that. But i see other guys can actually get onto some local sites, i cant get onto anything.

Thanks though

I had the same problem from last night, I am in JHB South and it was a network failure in my area, Phoned them at 8am it was up again at about 11..
I would say phone them and ask them if there is a network failure in your area.

I'm having the same problem in Brackenhurst... I can connect... but it is very slow.
And a friend of mine in Brackendowns a few blocks away from me is also having problems... he can hardly do anything.

I'm in Brackenhurst as well and ADSL was painfully slow last nite, resorted to 3G. Hopefully it gets sorted out today.

Sunward Park Boksburg have the same problem since Monday night. Logged a call on Thuesday, and still no access. I phone them daily, and apperantly there is a problem with the DSLAM. They have no idea of when it will be sorted, but is working on it.

I'm in Meyersdal and my ADSL is also emtremely slow almost impossible to work with.

Am so glad am not the only one with this problems I also live in Meyersdal same thing.. Internet very slow and sometimes even loosing sync for hours.

Guys, I hope you have reported your fault to Telkom. They will not magically fix it unless you report it.
I prefer reporting it via the Web page as I get my fault reference much faster than sitting on the phone for hours.

I have reported this fault number of times everytime they tell me it's fixed and sometimes it will work for a while. Just to repeat it self again a day later.
Am really so over it by now I just wish there was someone of higher authority we can take our complains to.I think there is a very big problem somewhere in the Meyersdal area.

I also called Telkom to report it and they advised they cannot see anything wrong from their side. I called my ISP and they told me the Meyersdal area is definitely having problems and Telkom is investigating, surprisingly the telkom consulant knew nothing about this.

Did you keep all the reference numbers?

I live in Sunward Park and can confirm that we are having the same problem. I have reported it to Mweb who confirm that Telkom are aware of the beast and are working on solving the problem. I have also logged a fault directly with Telkom. The call centre was not aware that the problem was identified and reported by Mweb!!!
My connectivity is limited and the speed, slow to stop.
Pingtest.net show a packet loss in excess of 30%, pings up to 357ms and Jitter up to 544ms.
This problem started on the 19th.
Damm Telkom for their snail pace in resolving this matter.
Guess I can't throw out VC 3G at this stage.

at my parents house in Meyersdal, their connection seems to be a little bit better, more stable than mine in Brackenhurst. Sites load a bit faster, but I still can't get to the Speedtest.net site to do a check.

Well I'm in Brackendowns and my internet has been perfect. Sure there was the afrihost issue the other day but I've been downloading on news servers at full 420kb/s

Phoned Telkom fault reporting again this morning. The lady confirmed that they had a general outage since last Tuesday in the area affecting about 160 clients who logged faults.
She tried to reset my port to see if that would help... but it didn't. So my fault is still logged as "open".

Im so sick of these people, blaming each other Telkom says its Afrihost, Afrihost says it's Telkom.

Telkom said the exchange is perfect and our ADSL line is fine. Afrihost cant see a problem.

I almost went and bought a new routher today to see if maybe my router is faulty.

My wife says our internet is working fine now at home. They must have fixed it.
