Is the internet dying?

The internet is surprisingly prone to old fashioned maladies such as superstition, rumour and wild speculation

Who thinks up these ***** articles?

+1.

What a dumbass article. The author is very narrow minded and thinks that Facebook IS the internet. Sounds like this could very well be one if those IE6 users.

It's sensationalism for the sake of attention. Someone needs to make a name for themselves. Most tech gurus are wrong half the time, but its like having your fortune read or reading your horoscope; you'll always remember that one time it was right.

But it isn't this time.

oh and they all communicating on what port again? oh ya. port 80. hyper text transfer protocol. just because someone wrapped the link in a shiny icon and called it an app doesnt mean its not the web ffs.

What the hell are you all on about?

It's an interesting concept to discuss. The Facebook revolution is busy changing the way we use the internet. Maybe not for Nerds sitting at home all night but for the rest of the world it is.

Agree with you, our users when getting laptops/pc/phones dont ask if it has internet (as if it's a built-in feature) they just ask can it facebook,if you say yes they're happy. Let's face it +- 80 - 90% of people today on the web are only there for social activities IE twitface :-)

So just because the masses consider Facebook to BE the internet does not mean the rest of the internet dying. Just be because the masses are ignorant of other interent applications does not mean the internet will die off. Once again...what a BS article.

web ≠ internet;
web ⊂ internet

article does refer to web...

Are we seeing a generation of lazy people, doing nothing but facebooking?
Seriously, if someone can do work through facebook there is nothing wrong with that. But, just showing off the places they checked-in and all that crap will not kill the web.

I don't know, let's go ask AOL how that worked for them.

Facebook is a phaze like all the others before it.
