WikiLeaks: Sensitive info about Telkom and AT&T deal revealed

Nothing new that we dont know already.

Again Telkom messing up everything as usual. Great oppertunity to make a partnership and good impression in the global economy to the benefit of all but noooooooooo, we dont want to advance and offer the same services at the same prices as our international friends because we want to milk and control the South African market as much as we can so we take all the money for ourselves....

Same sh$t, different day....

because of Telkom’s breadth and depth of experience in Africa

And their experience in Nigeria was obviously not considered :erm:

Spears expressed frustration at the slow pace of Telkom decision-making, the cable said.

However, the prolonged negotiations reflect Telkom’s slowness in embracing this change.

Kind of sums Telkom up quite nicely. Their inability to change, be creative or adopt adventurous strategies is their stumbling block.

I'm going to start my own whistle blower web site and get millions in donations to release info that is pretty much common knowledge! :D

With a government like this being the major shareholder, what kind of speed do you expect?

40 million South Africans could have told AT&T 15 years ago that Telkom's progress in the technology field is as slow as treacle. In some respects it goes backwards

Telkom was asked for comment on the cable’s statements about slow decision-making from the operator and the operational detail of the MOU, but did not respond by the time of publication.

They're still deciding how to respond.

To be fair that was under September, 2 years ago. Since Pinki took over things at least appear to be happening.
