Best mobile network in South Africa revealed

Intersting findings, as my experiences with Vodacom in terms of data and voice performance have all been horrendous. Cell C on the other hand.... very few problems. :)

Wow I thought cell c would have won data at least. Although I think voice calls we should be told what the scale was? I still think voice quality is on the worse side of things here in SA. All networks, assuming the call goes through.

17% drop calls for Cell C???? Don't they mean 1.7%?

As much as I hate to admit it, that is pretty much my own experience of CellC here in Cape Town in recent months.

While the research was contracted by Vodafone, P3 Communications is mandated to function completely independently and provide objective results about network performance.

Seems Legit

Here in Midrand my Cell C 5gig contract runs @ approx 10mbps, vodacom 1.2gig runs @ approx 1mpbs.

The only exception would be voda world :P where my Cellc signal doesn't exist.

If they did this test anywhere near my house they would find Vodacom in last place.
No 3G and calls are dropped so often that I don't even bother trying to call people anymore.

I don't for one second think that Vodacom is better than MTN! How and where was this test done? All over South Africa? I don't think so!

+1
And the dead giveaway is the results for 8ta's data. No way it has the lowest latency AND faster than cell c! Definitely a very selective test region.

Vodacom is the worst perfoming network in all aspects in my area(PMB) MTN is most reliable 2nd is Cell C, so these findings are dog turd to me

I usually find my MTN connection (although not great) is faster and more reliable than Vodacom. Constantly disconnected with Vodacom.

Yeah, we can see who paid for the tests. Vodacom is crap. I live in Centurion and we can never complete a call on my wife's vodacom phone. Bad quality, dropped calls etc... MTN works perfect. Even the childrens Cellc is better than Vodacom.

I can see VC gloating about this, but IMHO VC is anything but good. I have too many dropped calls and my data connection on 8ta is much better, even when roaming on MTN.

I agree that VC is better on a technical comparison, unfortunately once you bring price into it I end up using 8ta for voice, VC for my smartphone (data and incoming calls only), and Cell C for my data requirements at home.

When i moved from Vodacom to CellC i was greatly disappointed by the speeds of CellC. I wish that i had never signed my name on the dotted line with CellC.

Honestly, how independent could the survey be if Vodafone was paying for it!

My experience is the following:

Reliability:

1. Vodacom
2. 8ta
3. CellC

Network speed:
1. CellC
2. Vodacom
3. 8ta

I've never used MTN so they are excluded!
