There was a problem found with Africa INX (peering partner) and has since been resolved by them.
Cape Town still may have a problem until the IPC upgrade is finished, ......

Please would you add PE to the list of problem areas - not sure if we here are linked to Cape Town or JHB, but what I've experienced tonight, only while connected to VOX as my ISP, is as follows :

1. couldn't access the Tech News part of MyBB website ;
2. the forums were exceptionally slow to load, if at all ;
3. of most concern to me, the fact that Microsoft Security Essentials got stuck on searching for downloads indefinitely - wouldn't budge past the searching status.

As soon as I switched to an Afrihost account, the above were immediately rectified. MS SE downloaded the updates immediately thereafter, just as they used to using VOX. Incidentally, the same happened either this morning, yesterday, or both days - MS SE couldn't do the updates connected via VOX.

I'm hopeful that once your guys have managed to sort out CPT, all will be well again in other regions !?
Alternatively, please look into why this phenomenon might be happening, which is something no-one else seems to have mentioned (about MS SE).


EDIT re MyBB: just checked again using VOX ; tried to load a forum page. Times out completely, and the page message states it's unavailable (like some of the screenshots posted in this thread).

Nothing remotely interesting happened with my Peerblock test tonight. Did not expect anything to suddenly start working in any case as I've never had peerblock on this PC.

Having some throughput issues. Can't seem to get anything to stream on HD on my 6mb line. Anyone else having issues? :(
 
Mines broken near cape town. I am currently switching to a spare IS based capped account to stream with.
 
Streamed the whole League of Legends world champs today in HD with no issues. Northern region.
 
Have had the worst weekend ever Internet wise, erratic where everything used to be perfect

Cannot get sites to load, timeouts etc.

Either your line and/or exchanged is completely broken.

I mean sure the VOX IPCs are bad, but they not that bad.
 
@remybfg10k Its not the ISP and changing ISP's won't solve your problem I think. On hop 2 timed out. First time I see something like that.

You exchange is completely broken or your line is basically rusted or burning somewhere or the exchange port itself is just broken.

If it was ISP related then hop 1 and 2 will be fine and the rest bad or if you dial a pppoe connection hop 1 will be fine and the rest bad.

Have a look at it now, I replaced my router and left it for half an hour, still having the same internet issues, but the ping on the first 3 hops is fine, have a look here (based in Edenvale)

If you're using wifi, repeat the tests using a lan cable, but it looks like exchange congestion so best to PM TelkomZA.

That right there suggests exchange congestion or exchange fault.

This is mine. You can see that yours is double mine. Its not right and I think your exchange is congested. Its not severely congested otherwise it would be a permanent high ping but its just enough to give you some packetloss and very odd looking trace routes and lag spikes.

Just remember, exchange congestion is not consistent, it comes and goes as the people in your area all use it together or not. Your trace still looks bad.
 
Tried the Vox account again, then the Webafrica one, big difference: (first tracert is Vox, second Webafrica)
