Groupon back-pedals on Windows 8 Pro deal

MyBroadband contacted Groupon South Africa to clarify the confusion and whether consumers will be able to claim a refund, but the company did not respond by the time of publication.

MyBroadband also tried to contact the Groupon helpline to ask whether the company will refund unhappy clients, but the waiting period for calls to be answered was so long that the call was terminated.

Yip the exact same problem we had.
When the deal went live on midnight we tried everything, even Facebook to communicate to them that this was an upgrade version and that they need to warn customers.

Groupon simply just kept quite and we had customers emailing them and Groupon was responding that its the "full version". This caused massive headaches for us trying to convince customers that its not the full version.

Of course they kept quiet, they were trying to rip consumers off.

this is why you dont give shiny shoe people the responsibility to make technical inferences.

From the bottom of the voucher:

"Once we send you the Groupon, you may cancel the transaction at any time within 7 working days from the day after the day that you receive the Groupon (where a
working day is any day that is not a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday)."

Sent a cancellation email this morning - but now I've just received a 'Delivery Confirmation' email..

Yea, also interestingly received a "Delivery confirmation" email just now, despite mailing them yesterday and this morning about refunding etc. I guess i'll see what happens first, if they actually manage to deliver this next week, then i guess i'll take it as schooling fees .

I guess my lesson is that if a company is not providing sufficient critical information on a product, then i am going to assume the company don't know what the hell they are selling and should be avoided. Nothing worse than an e-tailer than don't understand their own products, even if they "resell", you have to make sure the supplier at least knows what the hell they are selling.

From now on if a company is not providing sufficient critical information on a product, then i am going to assume the company don't know what the hell they are selling and should be avoided. Se voet..

Refuse the courier package, and contact your credit card company and get the transaction reversed.

The school fees must be for Groupon, and they must learn not to lie on their ads.

Groupon is a scam most of the time, will never deal with them, the fine print is just not worth it and IMHO they are worse than the verimark scams.
