Check your Cell C account by phoning 140.

SMS "bal" or "balance" to 14302 to check account balance.

Dial *147# to launch the USSD menu with various account management and inquiry options.

Cell C USSD codes

These are the Cell C USSD service numbers to be dialled from your cellular handset.

Balance enquiry

  • *101#

Pre-paid top up

  • *102*<voucher>#

Send a Call Me Back message

  • *111*<mobile number>#

Customer menu

  • *147#

MSISDN query (retrieve own number)

  • *147*100#



I have contacted Cell C for the full list of USSD and SMS codes and will update when they supply the information.

Any idea why they don't support shortcuts. E.g. instead of dialling *147# and then choosing 4, then 1, then 2 in order to purchase a 100mb data bundle, I'd like to be able to do:
*147*4*1*2#
which does not work.

Anyone found a shortcut?
 
I would also like a shortcut like that
*147*2*4# to find out when my data bundle expires.
I have to use their menu.
Just doing a balance check doesn't show expiry so its not very useful.
 
Try this with MDMA: *147#,2,4

Thanks. I'll try next time I'm using a 3G and MDMA.
For the moment I'm just using CellC on an old iPhone 3GS temporarily.
Interestingly I discovered the software allows you to add wait and/or pause into phonebook entries.
Unfortunately it won't activate the *147# menu at all (or the **147# menu you suggested) with wait or pause symbols afterwards.

cellc doesnt charge u when u check ur balance i would say u have subscribed for something else

This is a free service, which allows you to deactivate the services.

How does one check you data usage on the mifi device.

Register on cell C website, or alternatively login to the router you'll see a USSD MENU click , then check balance.

Only problem I have experienced forcing 4G won't allow to check USSD balance, have escalated it to cell c

It is expected. USSD is 2G/3G service. In auto mode router is using 3G/2G radio for USSD. If you force LTE, 3G/2G radio is turned off to conserve power.
 
What if I can't add data using this ridiculous menu? I select data, confirm and every F@#%$ time I get one of 2 sms' back:
"you have already used your free tariff change" or "your transaction could / has not been processed. Please recharge and try again later"
And yes I do have rand airtime available. I'm down to less than 10mb and can't turn on data for fear of the out of bundle shark wiping all of my airtime.
