Web Africa uncapped ADSL prices cut

lol pretty ironic that Telkom and then WebAfrica drop prices significantly while the usual trailblazers (mweb/afrihost) are kinda playing catchup.

Heh, Telkom is the one playing catchup, is no one wondering how Telkom got to the exact same pricing as Afrihost (who's been there for months already) ? They probably looked at who's the cheapest and set the prices at that. Technically a company like Afrihost don't need to do anything at this stage (unlike Mweb) , and can probably ride it out a bit and see how the market reacts to the new products (they will lose market though).

The catch now is, if you are priced the same as Telkom it comes down to quality and AUP. Mweb is already behind , delivering a product that is defined by having "inferior" quality compared to the standard product that we've been comparing with.

WebAfrica had to make this move , they've been falling out of the market fast . They were trying to compete on quality (the same thing Mweb is doing now) and with an uncapped product it's a very tricky affair to prove quality when you're up against big guns like Telkom who may have an abundance of bandwidth.

Unless if they do what Openweb is doing on IS.... there's no throttling on the network whatsoever, since they manage all their accounts themselves.
Just hoping their move doesn't slow down this bliss we're having on IS.
 
This is very welcome news on a dark Monday morning which started off with an eskom outage since 1am till now :)

Since when is throttling synonymous with IS? If you buy a cheapie account, that's what you get. Openweb GOLD uses IS and no throttling whatsoever.

Eish, i hate that. I won't touch a service i can't leave within the same month. They need to have a look at that.

It's not that bad, I used to do 400-500GB on a 10Mb account before I noticed any shaping or throttling on my account. So long as you stay on 5 stars you have unshaped unthrottled internet.
 
Just to comment from my "personal side" here quickly.
I had a 4Mbps Uncapped home account to test drive for the month of Jan. It's seriously impressive, latency, speed etc etc have all been awesome with IS.

IS have made some big improvements over the month and it's paying off.
