Cheapest uncapped ADSL ever from South African ISPs

Lexis say: that "thottled" accounts are nothing but a gimmick.... :D

hmmm , a few years back (prior Afrihost R29/gig) we were paying R70 per gig... things change and suppose can only get better :)

Afrihost? Where are you...? Been loyal for very long....

Where's Axxess on that list, I'm paying R496 for a 10mbps uncapped.

excluding ADSL access and line rental
Telkom, what can we do to assist you in reducing these two items?
We've seen good drops on data costs from R70/GB to uncapped, now lets tackle the "elephant in the room".

Ask the staffwriter. Afrihost's prices were equal to Telkom's new pricing since last year. So i'm surprised it's not listed in the tables as a comparison. Afrihost is still cheaper than some of the "new" prices listed there, not sure why people expect them to drop their prices when Telkom (and everyone else) simply "matched" them.

It implies all these guys listed in the table were ripping us off, and were seeing how long they can remain expensive. Clearly the prices could have dropped long before Telkom.

Bit silly to only list the prices that changed when there were prices that were cheaper before this.

Some bird told me that the telkom uncapped accounts aren't throttled anymore... Also, can find anything on their site (didn't search much though). Is this true?

It is certainly starting to look more tempting to go back to an "uncapped" account, but still very wary about the usability of these accounts. Once bitten and all that. Time will tell I suppose, until then RedAfrica still works for me.

Prices are still too high to save Telkom's rear end. I can still get 10gb/m for R199 from Telkom's twin sister. Yes, it's not uncapped, but it's fast, reliable and mobile, with decent speed equalling or better than 10mbsp ADSL. As long as voice and adsl lines are bundled Telkom's going to struggle.

Not true, unless Afrihost's prices went up again. I just checked and Afrihost is more expensive than Telkom for every speed except 1Mbps. Prices were definately not just matched by Telkom.
