Cell C network problems cause customer backlash

It's like the banks...they are all crap....just go with the best price and hope you don't run into issues :)
If you are after service then always remember this is Africa...

I must admit that I never really had any issues with Cell C except for last night and early this morning.

For me - it was sucky in the beginning at home.
Found out that it was due to 2 towers going down near my home.
That along with the Sentech Faulty Transmitter on Table Mountain that caused havoc.

Since then - rather plain sailing - till this morning at the office.
Every few seconds the Data Signal completely disappears and then comes back to full HSPA.
Weird indeed.

Other than that - it's turned out to be a pleasure.

I just wish that Cell C would give us some feedback on the problem. I bought a useless Giga 200 that doesn't work in the evenings even though I've got good signal. So now I got to buy 8ta data on top of that.

Case in point is Joburg CBD simmonds street right now. I have 5 bars yet my phone cannot even find the server in speedtest. I'll be PMing Cell_C the details.

I chose Cell C Prepaid for my Tablet because they have the best data prices. Now I can not even use it as there is no way I can convert airtime to data on the Tablet (A lot of Tablets do not have USSD support to dial *147#). I am still waiting for Cell C for a solution.

my problem EXACTLY!

Well VC and MTN aren't any better at their customer service either. I personally have had good service from Cell C . . . so far at least. Which is more that I can say for Vodacom.

Sorry to hear that, you poor suckers! Have been using Cell C for more than 19 months now with very little issues, Downloads mostly between 3.5 -4.8 Mbps. DL around 1.7. And customer care line helped me mostly well. Their technical helpdesk is 084 1555555, free from a Cell C SIM. And their Giga 200 is excellent value for money, only R150 PM total costs. I have no plans at all to switch to ADSL.
I guess everything depends on your location.

i had some guy from cellc phone me this morning asking to rate their service regarding a network issue...
cellc :> Mr xxx Has your query logged on (date cannot be confirmed) been resolved ?
me :> no
cellc :> how would you rate on a scale of 0 - 10 , the manner in which the issue was resolved
me :>0
cellc :> were you kept up to date with the handling of this query?
me :> you are the first person i have heard from, since i logged the request!

and so it went on... , at this point, vodacon at least TRIED to fix the problem

That's what I've been experiencing with Vodacom. Location, location, location. All of them have something in common though, call centers are useless, you can only sort things out through this forum or going to a decent Vodacom/CellC shop with capable people and that aren't understaffed.

What about expanding Gr8 signal to include Gr8-throughput?

Because this is probably a congested tower-issue.

I got a Giga20 package in December and use it in a Mifi device in my car. December and early January was great - streamed podcasts in my car all the time. Then, when the holidays ended and everybody came back to Pta, the throughput dropped terribly (even though my whole commute has great signal - more than I can say for Vodacom!)

Would be great if CellC and 8ta merged at this point...

avoid call centres at all cost. they employ idiots. They can fix basic problems. to date i thing 8ta is the best. sorted my problems out with a tech guy comming out the next day. spend 2 hours sorting it out with a smile.

I've just posted on Cell C's Facebook page about this, asking for their rep to respond here. The request has been forwarded to the admin. Hopefully, they respond here.
