Bye bye BIS (with BlackBerry 10)

Bye bye Blackberry as well then

I find it funny that they are basing the 200mb fair use amount on the 180mb "average" use for 2012 which is pathetic considering BIS is slow and if they move to a normal 3g/hspa that average will be closer to 500mb to 1Gb.

Blackberry's SA market advantage has just been blown to hell and gone... now it's just a handset war!

Good riddance to bad rubbish. BIS may be more secure but it is way too slow for smartphone use these days. BIS's days are well and truly over. All I want is BBM. Still the best.

Your security won't be compromised. The APN is just different for where the data is being transfered.

Your messages and emails are still encrypted.

Well the anti BB crowd would love to forget that BB's still have BBM,which for many people i know was the biggest draw card.

I dont see why people are still hammering on about BBM being the end all and be all. I cant now do everything on WhatsApp that I could do on BBM. Supports profile pics...custom status...group chat ... and dont have to worry about getting someones pin number blah blah. If you prefer BBM then OK...but I dont understand why people are saying BBM is "just better"?

Read reports, more reliable, better looking emoticons and the main reason for me and the people I know is because almost all their contacts are on it,whatsapp has a far smaller user base.

Everybody only wanted a BB for "unlimited" BIS and by everybody I mean those teens that voted BB the best brand in SA.

If the lower-end devices still have unlimited BIS then people wouldn't see need to upgrade to the Z10.

Mmmm ok. The read reports really aint a big issue for me. I like the emoticons on Whatsapp...but granted I have not used BBM for such a long time...so dont know what BBM ones look like now. Most people I know that have a BB also have WhatsApp installed anyway.

Your using BBM because of emoticons....

And every contact you have on BBM can use whatsapp...actually, almost every platform out there can use whatsapp, can you say the same of BBM?

When you talk about reliability your not talking bout when BIS is offline? And numerous reports of slow message delivery?

I've already converted some BB people to Android and I'm sure many will follow suit on their next upgrade.

BIS was great in it's time but that time is over now.

I have two phones with me at all times currently a 9900 and an s3,the emoticons on whatsapp are horrendous and nobody seems to utilize whatsapp much so its pretty much useless.I check it once every week or three while i check bbm several times a day because everybody is on it and things are happening there.I even get local neighborhood updates etc on my bbm which is simply not available on my whatsapp currently.

I agree but they don't so my whatsapp is rather useless compared to BBM except for two or three people that regularly use it,and because of the huge BBM community in SA I suspect this would remain true for most people since their circles all use bbm rather then whatsapp.

I have 8ta BIS and my wife is on Cell C BIS I cant remember any outages now on our phones for maybe over a year, with whatsapp people tend to not always get your mesages. The messages go through pretty quickly on Cell C and 8ta.

I know my sister in law had a Vodacom BB outage around the 18th of Jan but at the time 8ta and cell c were still working properly so clearly not a BB issue but rather a network issue.

I completely agree with the exact opposite of what you are saying falcon786. Pretty much all BB people I know have Whatsapp so that they can connect with the real world. Whatsapp emotions are awesome, even on my ancient N79 that I use as Sports Tracker phone.
