Anybody else having problems connecting to nextgennews.net this morning? I'm getting an error in sabnzbd that says can't connect unexpected eof?
 
Same here. says unable to connect in grabit too. I mailed them as well, Waiting on a reply
 
Still unable to connect this morning. Have you received a reply?
 
Nope nothing yet. Normally Chris gets back to me immediately. Wonder wats up
 
Sent another mail now. Uhm....So it's just us having this problem? maybe it's something we did. What account you on at nextgen?
 
I have the unlimited 4meg for 2 months and subscribed a couple weeks ago. I have also emailed so if I hear anything will let you know.

yeah the error message is instant. Well that sux. But these guys are not getting back to anyone or at least tell us they are aware of the problem

Been just about 2 days down for me. Let me try now since above post says it is working :p.

Well i will DEF not renew with them. When something goes wrong you at-least tell what's going on etc... it has now been almost 3 days. Nothing is said or done? This is not service really.... But Again we are in SA
 
Well for now mine seems to work...I Will Stay and support you guys, but really lets work on the communication if there's a problem or something please guys... Thanks
 
Hah, my luck. I signed up two days ago and got the 2 day trial.

It never worked. So I logged a support call via their site, but got no feedback.
This morning the server seems to work again, but I need to buy data before usage. So I have no way of knowing whether the product actually performs as stated ...

It has not been very confidence inspiring stuff. Especially when it goes wrong, it seems.

We've had an server crash on us which affected services. Unfortunately I am
currently away on holiday celebrating my birthday and thus it took me some
time to fix with the limited access to emails and servers.

I will look at precisely what happened on Sunday when I get home and
affected users will be compensated.

Server still seems a bit shaky for me. Had a few errors saying I have reached the max number of concurrent connections and I was only using four threads on Grabit. Speeds are kinda irregular, but that can be Telkom for all I know
 
Hi All,

I was away on holiday and as murphy would have it, we ran into server issues. One server has suffered severe hardware failure (we have over 5 in a cluster), but due to the shared storage between then, when one server fails, the others are affected as well.

I managed to restart the failed server via Cell Phone and then a few hours later it crashed again. It was then taken out of service completely (and still is).

I realise this isn't an excuse, but unfortunately litterally the only device that I had with me to work with was an Cell phone. Just to become aware of the problem took way to long.

As indicated in my emails, we will be compensating users affected for the downtime (this will include trial users who didn't have time to test the service), and we will drastically work on increasing our monitoring and the like. I will also be looking for another individual to look after the well being of the servers with me, so that the single point of failure (i.e. me) can be removed.

All I can say is sorry for the issues - everything is back online and stable and running smoothly...

I litterally just got home - I will go through the logs and what not during the course of tonight / today and e-mail account holders individually in terms of said compensation. Users on time based subscriptions will more than likely receive 3 or 4 days free access, whilst volume based users will receive a couple of GB free of charge on their accounts. I will know a bit more once I established just how severe the impact was.

Once again - my sincerest appologies.
 
Thanks for the info. You didn't even have to compensate us but that just shows how far out of your way you care for your customers so thanks :).
 
UPDATE: Sorted. Live chat was working, missed it the first time. Spoke to Chris, reported the issue and is being looked into.

How do you contact anyone at Nextgennews? I decided to buy a block account to test, it worked for a bit then died and now it tells me I have the incorrect username or password.

I cannot change the password on the site either because their captcha fields are broken, nor can I send any support queries for the same reason.

Hope I didn't just waste 80 bucks.

This is what I see on the change password screen (no captcha):

We use Google's recapcha. It works on every single browser we tested, including IE, Chrome, FF...

Are you by any chance blocking cookies / javascript / sessions, or things like that?
