Trouble with Supersport on Afrihost

I have a 4MB capped/unshaped account with Afrihost.

Youtube, browsing etc is perfect and fast.

But watching anything on Supersport is a nightmare.
Live or the +/-6min summary clips.

Stops and streams every few seconds.

Changing my account to a saix or mweb account and quality & speed is perfect.

Anyone else experiencing the same issue?

Thats Supersport. Their streaming has a track record of being p!s poor
 
I fully understand that there servers are struggling with all the requests.

My problem is that switching to a SAIX or MWEB account and all is perfect. No streaming issues on my 4MB line.
 
*ANY* sort of streaming for me on Afrihost is bad, wether it's dstv, youtube, Vimeo or soundcloud.
 
This added a lot to my frustrations during Saturdays rugby.
 
As far as I know, MTN doesn't peer freely with MWEB/Multichoice, or anybody else. This could be a case of Multichoice limitiing the bandwidth available to MTN's network. Probably a case for ICASA or the the competition commission to deal with.

*ALL* my streaming is good with Afrihost.

I'm a happy camper here.

Disclaimer: I don't stream Supersport from the Supersport site out of principal. Most of my sport is from Skysport from another streaming site.

I reported this issue as soon as I had my Afrihost account. I was even given a test account from Afrihost support, and that had no issues at all, the only problem is the account was on the SAIX network. I have no issues with any other video site, except for supersport and dstv.
 
Openweb have the same issues with some of their accounts. I've had three different Openweb accounts, 2 of which buffered SS every few seconds and one works perfectly. Reported this to Openweb on the weekend and they're looking in to it...

Let's just blame Romain Poite for the streaming issues on Supersport and call it a day, thread closed ;)
On a more serious note, I haven't experienced issues on my personal account at home. Watched some of the Rugby on Saturday and have the cricket on at the moment without any buffering involved.

Is this something you guys picked up recently or has it been on-going for a while now?

I have had this since joining Afrihost, so its been since July 2013
 
I'd like to see if we can replicate this on our end, please post the following so we can check things out :)

I have to agree with OP and many people here

Wierdly enough streaming Soundcloud using my Afrihost MiFi at the gym is flawless. But on my 2meg business uncapped its kinda hit and miss

Twitch.tv and Supersport (live) I would put into the category of unstreamable for me.

YouTube and Vimeo requires me to buffer.

Other than that I get superb gaming pings, superb newshost speeds, superb daytime/nighttime torrent speeds.

I have made multiple posts about my streaming being bad but it all got lost in the noise of mybb.
