Check your emails SC backer people, big AWS (Amazon Web Service) partnership with CIG has been made more public, they've even dropped the Cry Engine logo and now have Amazon Lumberyard.
I'm interested to know what that means for us latency-wise in SA. Anyone who's played Star Marine on the PTU (which is live to all backers now go go go...) will know we are getting 260 to 300 ping to the few Alpha servers in the states that are available for playing the Alpha of Star Citizen as of now.
Are Amazon going to be putting data centers on the ground in SA? Will we finally get a local experience latency wise one day in Star Citizen? Some one local more versed in AWS and cloud stuff needs to enlighten us on this exciting news. The way I understand it, there were AWS servers in SA then it'd be the equivalent of having, for instance, a Battle.net Africa Gateway instead of just EU, NA, Oceanic etc.?
Patiently waiting for alpha 3.0 - I really want to be able to do this: https://gfycat.com/UnfinishedBlaringArchaeopteryx

It cannot come soon enough...
We're into the Evocati release window now, although I suspect next week is more likely than just before the weekend. We'll see what the updated production schedule says tomorrow.
Ye, I haven't played 2.6 is ages, not much to do once you've done it all. I'm excited that I'll at least be able to run small amounts of cargo with my Avenger as it has some cargo capacity.
Some cool footage from Gamescom showing off some of the tech from the upcoming alpha.
By the time they release that game intergalactic travel will be a real thing and humans will be waging wars with aliens on distant planets.
Getting into in what sense? It's an alpha,so your just playing the features and seeing the existing bugs.Is this worth getting in to?
It looks the type of game I've always had in my mind.
