Why are the cellphone service providers responsible for launching handsets? It's the equivalent of Afrihost or Mweb announcing when the latest Lenovo or Acer laptop is going to be launched. It doesn't make any sense to me to allow this massive conflict of interests. Cellphone service providers should stay out of the handset market and concentrate on providing a decent service instead of being the focal point for hardware launches.
in theory you are correct. unfortunately new handsets needs to be tested and set up on the network, because each network is slightly different. that is what they are testing as well as getting settings sorted for the device.
about the fingerprint reader its a pointless feature on the iPhone and here, though I do think a fingerprint reader that works like the ones on laptops is quite useful. also using kit kat means different users can have their own set up on the device and from unlock the phone could know what to log in as. so for those people buying their kids s5's that is a nice feature.
dustproof and waterproof is a nice feature, it is epic on the Xperia range. only now you have a removable battery while being waterproof and dustproof. good innovation imho.
also the odd number samsungs are like s series iPhones. basic updates on the previous model.
S2 best phone in the market by miles at the launch, no contest especially from the iPhone 4s.
s3 upgrade on s2, nothing actually special there. was better than the iPhone 5 on hardware but had no innovation of its own.
s4 arguably the best phone of 2013, complete revamp on screen sensitivity and display quality, camera upgrades alone makes it clear it is a different phone to the s3.
s5, slight upgrade on the s4, better camera, fingerprint reader dustproof, slightly smaller bezel, and a heartrate monitor, god knows why.
so the s6 will give us almost no Bezel, dustproof waterproof, possibly flexable screen, a camera that will lead the industry for at least 3 months. and most likely some other useless thing, hyped out of this world, maybe a built in carbon dioxide meter, because everyone wants that right?
