Android 5.0 Lollipop launched

Hope Samsung doesnt take too long to release it for the Galaxy S5 etc.

If i could have one wish for Android, it'd be we all get versions in a day or two ala Apple

This is where iOS beats Android, they only have to cater for 2 or 3 different models so they get updates then and there... Like Toxicbunny said, we have to wait for Samsung to bugger it up first and then release it as slowly as possible

Lollipop. I like the names of the different android versions.
I hope toffeeAPPLE is somewhere on their shortlist for a future version.
Thats one way to "druk Apple 'n toffee".

That is not Googles/Androids fault. That is Samsungs fault.

You want the releases "ala Apple", get a Nexus. It's that easy.

When you get it depends on the phone you have

Nexus get it within a month of release
1 year old Samsung/HTC/LG phone get it in 12 months
Few months old Taiwanese/Zest T1 will never get it

Not really? Do any local guys actually have the device?

Plus, although the Nexus is traditionally very good, I think this last round they weren't he top smartphone, at least spec wise.

Also, I'm not worried about the wait if it is within a few weeks - but it is often months. I understand that it isn't Google/Android per se, but I'm sure there is something they can do to speed up to the process.

Then get a Nexus.

If more people opted for the stock versions of Android the more OEM's will use it. Problem is that a lot of features people use do not come in stock, example flashlight that everybody use that became stock in Android L now for the 1st time.

Then get a Nexus

A Nexus doesn't suit my needs.

I want to select my own my hardware, but have access to versions when they arrive. It can be done and probably will be done in future, but now it's an issue having to wait months and months.

Does owning a Nexus 5, 7 and 10 count?

Spec wise, they were all very good when released.
Vanilla Android copes much better on lessor Android that the bloated Sammys etc...
I still use all my Nexus devices and no slow down. In fact, they get better with each new update if the OS.

EDIT: If you were referring to suppliers, you can get through Esquire. Imports are not hard though.

Point I was making though, is the non Google guys mess up the release cycle. It is not Android. And there are ways around it if someone wants the quick updates like Apple. It's not Androids fault.

I'm saying it's not that easy to get a Nexus device.

I can walk in any store, sign a paper and walk out with an LG, Samsung, Vodafone, HTC, Alcatel - but not a Nexus. Walking store to store and I couldn't get one - with most of the attendants not knowing what a Nexus is.

Buy it online like a true geek. Expecting store sales people to know anything, good luck.
